So when are they going to start arresting people who sell forged seiyuu signatures? I shake my head so much when I see people bidding on those... The signatures are so sloppy yet somehow someone always gets duped.

Wait there are fake forged seiyuu signatures done by professional (or not quite professional) con artists ?? That is really surprising, I never knew those exist. I'll agreed the police (particularly Japanese police) are not doing a good job with catching the right criminals. |

Do you really need to start bashing the Japanese again already? I would like to see a source that supports your claim that the Japanese police are not doing a good job. |

Well you ask and you shall receive: Osaka police hide 81,000 crimes to clean up images (other source: Japan Today) Japanese police officer ignore traffic accident to question bicyclist Japan Daily Press-Police Apologizes for wrong arrests in e-mail threats JDP-Cyber threat perpetrator leads authorities to cat with clues I'll quote this from the above article:
NYT-Japan’s Inept Guardians I'll quote the New York Times:
Matthew Lacey Case: Fukuoka police dismiss NJ death by blow to the head as “dehydration” (Yomiuri & Japan Times) via Debito LA Times on how J police ignore certain crimes. Like murder (via Debito) I hope that's enough to back up my claim. |

(Uh, I don't really think he was "asking", but good point--Touma, might want to watch the wording next time, especially after those other couple threads...'Nuff said, that we're probably going to "receive" it anyway. )
It's enough, it's enough!... |

You are correct, and I do apologize for my error in judgment.
Correct again. |

@Touma: Well I was afraid one or 2 evidences was not enough, so I did some digging and just found couple that I thought are really credible. As EricJ2 said, you ask and I gave it to you.

I wonder if arresting pirates is really the most efficient way of dealing with this problem. Why not come up with some way for copyright holders to simply bill pirates for royalties (or let them off with a warning if they're feeling generous) instead? The "sales" numbers can be determined from auction or download records, after all.

There are tons. The signatures are so sloppy yet some people somehow still manage to get tricked. I don't know why the people who get duped don't ever wonder how the same seller is able to obtain so many autographs when these are supposed to be rare. Here are a few links: Ono Daisuke - http://page.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/190331223 Fukuyama Jun - http://page6.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/f129198792 KuroBas cast - http://page18.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/w110383935 Kuroshitsuji cast - http://page16.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/u68591322 Some seller - http://sellinglist.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/user/rainbowheart_rainbowdream *sigh* There are lots of fake cast signatures. They just write the title of the series and forge a bunch of cast signatures with the character name next to each one. These kinds of autographs are only ever given away as prizes with magazines and such and they will ALWAYS come with a paper congratulating the winner, like this one: http://page9.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/k177971336 Here's a tweet from Suwabe Junichi saying that he and the Kiseki no Sedai members from KuroBas have never gotten together to sign an autograph board: https://twitter.com/MY_MURMUR/status/515154519341428737 As a seiyuu fan these auctions really make my blood boil. |

@GokuMew2: Jeez Louis!!!
OK, that seem to enforce the "Japanese Police are incompetent". Has there been any demand from the Seiyuu agency to stop making fake signatures or did they not know of this?? To be honest, this is the first time I've heard of this. |

Well you can't really blame the police if there isn't anyone (such has the buyer or a seiyuu agency) putting in a complaint. I really do hope that some seiyuu agencies get involved to stop this. =\ |

Well I hope they become aware of this, I'm surprised this has happened, has this forgeries/frauds been going on for a long time (as in has this happened like 10 or 20 years back??) or did it happened recently (like 1 or 2 years ago)?? |

I don't know for how long they've been around but I have seen them from 2-3 years ago. I think lately it's become more profitable, especially since seiyuu seem to be a bit more well-known nowadays. There are more new, young fans who aren't as knowledgeable. |
