Well, I have a black chinchilla named Kuro and a rabbit named Momotaro. I got the inspiration for these names from anime, though I didn't name them after actual anime characters I've seen. Here's the point:
Anyone else name their pets from anime? Anyone know anyone who has named a person after anime (though I think it would be kind of creepy)? Know anyone who just happens to have an anime name unintentionally? Last edited by Amethyst Alchemist on Fri Mar 23, 2007 3:35 pm; edited 1 time in total |

One of my friends has a white dog named "Yuki". I'm not sure if it has anything to do with anime actually, but he's a big anime fan, so I don't think this is straying very far.
I know a few of Kubo Tite's readers have had kids and have named their kid "Ichigo" (with the same kanji too).
"Shana". Heh. |

I have four female guinea pigs named Winry, Sheska, Hawkeye, and Noah (after the Fullmetal Alchemist characters). Also, a pair of ducks named Albert and Eugenie after the Gankutsuou characters (they're a French breed of duck, so it's fitting). I also have a pair of ring-necked pheasants named Spike and Julia (Cowboy Bebop), a ton of chickens named after Pokémon, and a border collie puppy named Hana.
Hahaha, I'm getting fifteen more chickens soon, so more anime names are probably going to crop up. I have a LOT of pets. That's not even half of them. ; (Pictures if anyone is curious: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/pacificpikachu/Picture205.jpg (Albert and Eugenie, although not a very good picture) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/pacificpikachu/DucksandPheasants2006073.jpg (Albert and Eugenie as babies) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/pacificpikachu/Picture203.jpg (Spike) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/pacificpikachu/Picture131.jpg (Julia) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/pacificpikachu/DucksandPheasants2006093.jpg (Spike and Julia at two days old) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/pacificpikachu/Picture021.jpg (Hana when she was eight weeks old--she's now five months) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/pacificpikachu/GuineaPigs14.jpg (Winry (blond) and Sheska (brown)) http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v389/pacificpikachu/GuineaPigs8.jpg (Hawkeye, Noah, and their sibling Ed at one day old.)) Sorry to spam the thread with all these pictures! I can't resist. If the mods would like me to remove them, I'd be happy to comply. |

I know a dog named Yuki, too! Also unsure of the name's origin, but her owners are also casual anime fans and one of them is now married to my Japanese ex-roommate. I've had a dream for a while to one day own an Alaskan Malamute and name her "Soja" after Kagato's ship in Tenchi Muyo. I've held onto this dream for about 8 years now and it hasn't faded yet! Cheesy, yes, but Soja's such a pretty name!
The first-born son of aforementioned married couple's name is Ren. And my name, Sara, is the same as that poor girl spoiler[who gets raped and impregnated] in Now and Then, Here and There. I first saw that at my college's anime club and my friends were all like, "sucks to be you." |

Shouldn't the dogs boobs be much bigger then I myself know a real life Shana. A friend of mine named her rabbit momoji (right spelling?) from Fruit's Basket. It seemes those names are the most popular for pets. I guess it makes sense considering the show and its animal/zodiac basis for the characters. |

A friend back in high school named her German Shepard Schuldich, after the guy in Weiss Kreuz.
A long time ago, I had a betta named Kenshin... who dissappeared one day. Seriously- I went to his bowl, no fish. I think he jumped out and one of the cats ate him. I got another beta a lil' while later named Battousai, who's long since passed on. (I never really found one that looked like a Sanosuke to me, so I didn't get another.) We currently have a pie-faced male zebra finch named Yuki. (One of several finches, but the only one with a name as he's the only one I can pick out of the crowd.) Honestly, with the exception of the bettas, I've never really felt too comfortable giving pets a distinctly anime name... I guess I'm of the mindset that an animal is a living being and deserves a proper name, not a toy to be named after some flavor-of-the-month cartoon character. But that's just me. Although, watching Melody of Oblivion the other day, I concluded that Elanvital would be a cool horse name if I ever owned one. (well, that'd be the show name... I'd probably want a mare so I could just call her Ellie at home.) |

I probably wouldnt name a kid after an anime character, but then again, I still want to name any son I have Tobias, after my favourite character from the Animorphs book series. Its not so much I want to name him after Tobias, its more that I really like the name Tobias, and Animorphs happens to be the first place I ever saw that name being used. :/
And I named my laptop computer after Kouji Wada, the person who did the theme songs for all the Digimon seires. Not to be confused with the character Kouji from the fourth Digimon series.... Aheh. I would name a pet after anime characters, probably, but then Im more likely to name a pet after something else bizar. A lady told me about a pair of kittens named Miso and Tofu. Thats awsome. |

That would be cute. Both of my horses are named after anime characters. I own two TBs, one named Radical Edward and the other is named Casval (although around the barn we call him 'Char'). Several of my other pets have anime-related names too. First, I went through a Naruto phase where I named our dog 'Kiba' and our cat 'Hinata'. Then, last year on my birthday I received two kittens I named 'Ryu' and 'Ken' (I was watching Street Fighter II V at the time). When it comes to people... I know a Shana (this one seems popular), a Faye, a Robin, and a Sven. And then there's the boy who sits next to me in calc. His name is.... Pico. It's so hard not to laugh when I hear his named called.
You have a pet orange too? |

I have a black cat that I call Kuro Neko-sama, after the cat in Trigun. It's not really her name, per se; truthfully, I've never actually tried to give her an official "name" because, well, it's corny, but I always felt that since she's in my heart, my heart knows what to call her. Plus, I was really into T. S. Eliot at the time and figured that she would always have her third name to fall back on (the "ineffable effable / effanineffable / deep and inscrutable" one ).
As for other examples, my computer is named Tomato (although I am not a famous net-diver) -- does that count? And I myself have the same name as Kurosaki Ichigo's younger sister, just spelled differently (hint: not Yuzu). |

this thread is so kawaii...
There are actually some people that has names same as the anime's character but not because they named him or her after an anime... Yeah, I do like the idea of naming your pets an anime names... Well, as far as I know, when i was still in Grade 6, i had my very first pet dog, a Japanese Spitz... My mom said that give it a name which sounds like Japanese... From there, I was recalling all the animes I've watched, and gave my mom a list of names that sounds Japanese... Then, my mom said that Chichiri(Fushigi Yuugi) would be the name of our new dog and we said that if it will have a wife, we'll name it into Chichi(Dragonball)... From that moment, everytime we're having a Japanese Spitz, we always name it Chichiri(yeah we disregarded ChiChi)... Believe me 3 chichiri's has gone ot heaven, and we have now a new Japanese Spitz, also namd Chchiri... Hahaha.... In my love for hamster cases, i based the name of the hamsters in the series Hamtaro... I look at their colors and that's it.... |

I have four girl piggies too! They aren't named after anime though. I love the names!!!!!! I forgot about Noah. I also have a chinchilla named Noah. I never noticed the connection to FMA. Can't believe I wouldn't notice ! I also have a lot of pets. I'm not sure how many. And I also forgot, my friend has a nigerian dwarf goat named Sakura and, I think, some other anime named goats, but I can't remember. Lol, I thought the same thing.
Ditto. I don't have any pets, but I did have some fish before I moved to Arizona. That was before anime invaded my life though. But, this thread has inspired me to name my next set of fish (whenever I do get them) using anime names. I've always thought about naming my children (if I do ever get married and have any) after my favorite anime characters. But, unless my future wife (again, assuming I do get married) is an anime fan, I doubt she'd roll with that. Last edited by Jedi General on Thu Mar 22, 2007 11:22 am; edited 2 times in total |

Heh... This is my thread .
I have 2 cats, Taro (who's a real chicken cat) and Misaki (who's swwet to the point of being spoiled ), who were named after one of my favorite anime characters, Captain Tsubasa's Misaki Taro. Last year they had 6 kittens (they're already 1 year old), called Narcisa, Manchas, Ta-kun, Tom, Isabella and Carlota (a.k.a Soccer Ball) Here's a video of my cat Misaki Last edited by TestamentSaki on Fri Mar 23, 2007 9:42 pm; edited 1 time in total |
