Media Blasters has announced that they have licensed the second season of Ah! My Goddess. Hopefully, and Almighty-willing, we'll see the first of the second season DVD's before the end of the year.

The Anime Boston 2006 Panel:

Quote:
Highlights of the panel are as follows:

* Media Blasters confirmed a new OVA in the Kite universe not staring Sawa, as well as a live-action Kite movie.

* Media Blasters also confirmed that more Eikken is in production.

* The second season of Ahh! My Goddess TV was confirmed as a Media Blasters property.

* Media Blasters has licensed the Level C and Crimson Blade mangas.

* Media Blasters will be releasing Voltron--first as the TV broadcast edition, then as the Go Lion! and Dairuga shows uncut. No 3-D Voltron will be included.

* Media Blasters is unsure on the BluRay and HD-DVD formats. The company has no particular interest in computer-based download services, although they have been supporting a mobile phone service. They will not be giving the UMD format any support.

* Media Blasters is still interested in the second season of Beserk if it comes together in Japan.

You shouldn't be mad ... I have a website that's completely addicted to Ah My Goddess.

I could PM ya the website address if you want it. At any rate, I report on every piece of infomration that's dedicated to the AMG Anime and Manga series. Twisted Evil

Hmm, they didn't mention that at their A-Kon panel, but I must have missed it. I hope M-B doesn't break the bank on this: to paraphrase what the guy said, Media-Blasters always looks for some "flagship" popular title like Berserk or Rurouni Kenshin, (and maybe to a lesser extent others like 12 Kingdoms, Genshiken, and Midori Days) as a way to keep retailers in contact and make sure product gets on the shelves. AMG was pretty expensive for them, to the point where he wasn't sure if they'd ever make any money off it, but they needed that "flagship" title and out of all the ones that were up for bids at the time, AMG was the only "sure bet."

You can be sure of that. What's going to be of interest is how many more years will Media Blasters license each following season because you can be pretty sure that TBS will produce a third season since the series is doing pretty well for broadcast in Japan as well as DVD sales in Japan and in the United States.

I wonder why neither ANN nor Anime on DVD's con reports mention that statement?

I was sort of wondering the same thing... What is the source of this information, Colonel Wolfe?

I can tell it's Toon Zone's writeup.

But even in AoD's forum, Justin (the con reporter) said MB stated they were "looking into" licensing Season 2, not an actual announcement.

At this juncture, I'd call it inevitable, but premature.

No, you didn't.
And you won't hear anything until after the 2nd series is over.
