Anime Tour For the Cure was a scam. It was held by Anime FF whos parent company was Duplicate Mask Industries - a registered company, but a company with no other records - and the people at the breast cancer fund had not been contacted by anyone from Anime FF or Duplicate Mass Industries.

The money was gone, the prizes were gone and there was nothing for all the people that went to the trouble of being involved in this.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

Been following this and I hope someone takes them to task for their crimes, but those who want to learn more should check out: http://theotaku.com/ and ACML.

Wow. I didn't know there could be anyone shadier and more unreliable than the people running AX.

Holy crap. That's some SERIOUS scam they ran. I can't believe they actually had the gall to tell the owner of the website that THEY were going to sue HIM.

I hope they catch the people responsible for this scam and get every last cent they deserve.

Whenever I find out about scams like this happening, it fills me with a weird mixture of sadness and anger. I feel for the contest winners (and theotaku.com) for having the rug pulled out from under them. I regret that the promised contributions were nothing more than a boldfaced lie. But more than that, I really hope that the crooks involved are found and are forced to pay restitutions to the parties they've wronged.

I'll also add that I admire theotaku.com's attempts to honor their promises to the contest winners, as well as one of the execs for Anime Vegas for trying to right the "convention" that Anime FF obviously felt meant nothing more to them then another part of their scheming.
