Just finished watching it the other day, courtesy of net flix, and I wanted to discuss the ending with others who have seen it. I had a few questions I wanted to get opinions on.
Question 1 spoiler[Do you think Lucy went to the base and killed that Horned Director guy ?] Question 2 spoiler[Apparently it is Lucy at the gate, sure looks like her silhouette, what I don't get is the clock starting suddenly, what do you think it symbolizes ?] Question 3 spoiler[Apparently our main man Kouta has feelings for both his cousin (?) yuka and lucy, is he going to live with both of them and be a total pimp ? heh ] Question 4 spoiler[Why do you think that horned director guy had horns anyways ? Did he try injecting himself with the virus somehow ? Seems odd all dicloneus were females too btw ... hmmm..] *Dang I tried to edit the spelling of Elfen and it only stuck to the first post, feel free to mock me for being to lazy to go check the DVD when i originally posted.

nope question 2:- new beginnings question 3:- yep, but no pimps... question 4:- they are diclonius but they removed all other parts of themselves that make them, so no vectors. hope no spoilers were revealed in those... |

Q1 - spoiler[no she diffinitely did not. You don't even know if she survived that ambush thing at the end]
Q2 - spoiler[ It's not apparent that it's lucy at the gate, it could be nyuu (the second personality) and her " Evil " personality would be gone forever. Among many other less possible explanations.] Q3 - spoiler[ He would live with them both, love Yuka. Sympathise with lucy because he's the only one who knows what she's been through. That is if she's still alive or she feels comfortable living there knowing what she did to kouta] Q4 - I don't know.[/spoiler] |

1) Not in the anime but possibly in the manga.
2) Lucy began a new career as a watchmaker. 3) Somebody left the building, so that leaves? 4) Born that way; two horns but zero powers. |

2. Wish I knew about that, was wondering the same question myself. I hazard a guess in that I agreee with Hentai4me's answer. 3. Actually I think unless Lucy stays in control it will be a 3 way trian on Yuka. Did you see the way Nyuu was going for her breasts from behind? 4. He's a "mule," sterile. I believe this is why he is trying to wipe out the rest of humanity. Beside the fact he is a psychopath. I bet he is the only one who wants to kiil everyone, and that it is his twisted torture schemes that cause the girls to become killers, they are not naturally born to it, as he is. |

That's sorta spoilerish you know. spoiler[He's not a mule, he just doesn't have any powers. The Dicloniuses have been around for a long time but since the ancestors interbred with humans they lost their powers. It's the females who can't bear children. They have to infect normal human males, who then make their normal human wives pregnant with diclonius cuckoos. Naturally this puts a crimp in any plan to kill off humanity since Diclonius reproduction is dependent on humans.
The big deal about Lucy is not her powers but that she can bear babies. She can start a line of breeding dicloniuses, including males with powers. That's why Nyuu/Lucy nearly gets raped (or perhaps was raped) while unconscious. The Director knows well enough the problems with reproduction. The project is essentially his private conspiracy to wipe out humanity under the guise of trying to protect the selfsame humanity from the Diclonius threat. The reason he wants to do it is partly the instinctive hatred that all Dicloniuses feel for humans, but also because everybody born in his family through the ages have been shunned and even persecuted. Oh, and I was only half-joking about her new career. It should be clear that Lucy repaired the clock as a farewell gift. Nyuu had overeagerly gone and disassembled it earlier when trying to fix it.] |

I think I heard that the manga goes past this point and it was spoiler[Lucy at the gate, but without horns and her full memmories].
Isn't the show called Elfen Lied? |

Regarding question two...spoiler[This is the only way I can interpret it, but I believe it's not really what's going on. Anyway, a clock that hasn't been working and suddenly chimes is a bad omen according to superstition, and considering it's the "eleventh hour," it's double the bad. But like I said, that's probably not what it was intended to mean, because if a diclonious loses both horns it no longer has the will to kill, according to the manga anyway. Then again, the manga does go on longer than her just waiting at the door and anime adaptations tend to change the endings, so you never know.]

Yeah I guess that's a valid reason. But I realized if you post something else besides just the mis-spelling error, there is no reason for anyone to tell you anything because you are contributing to the discussion, and then asking about the spelling error. |

Oops I suck heh, sorry for the spelling. I am fairly good at spelling, but some of those dang anime titles get me. I should of checked before I submitted the post. Please forgive me. BTW is the title german or ?
