Seeing that we have GXP finally having some development. I must ask if the third OVA has been bought (or will be) by Pioneer or Funimation will grab it.
Also, what are the feelings about a different company doing Tenchi in R1? I am afraid what will happen. I have R2s and have been able to see the series. I am wondering if it can survive the editing process. I am assuming GXP will be aired since all other tenchi series (well okay not pretty sammy, but the harem ones) have been aired. |

I'd certainly hope Pioneer LEAPS at the 3rd OAV and assembles the original VA cast (Ellen Gerstel is Mihoshi, in my opinion). While I do hope that FUNImation does something worthwhile with GXP, Pioneer aced the OAV's so long ago that it's almost required that they do them again. Sort of like "Even if the new guy was just as good, wouldn't you rather have David Lucas as Spike Spiegal?"

I'm not remotely concerned about Funimation handling GXP... if anything, it's a good thing, since it means we may twice as many episodes per installment at a SRP just a little bit over the price of one of Pioneer's Tenchi Muyo DVDs, and, since the characters are new, I don't need to hear the old Tenchi cast except for the cameos, for which Funi's using the Pioneer actors anyhow. Since I don't get Toonami, I really don't care what edits they'll make for TV, as long as the DVDs are intact.
And, to be perfectly honest, I'm looking forward to GXP more than the third OVA series even if a lot of people found it disappointing, if just because the Galaxy Police is my favourite plot element on the show. Even though, my favourite babe, Kiyone (hmm... might I call myself Kiyone elsewhere?), isn't there, still, it's almost my dream Tenchi series. Someone named Kiyone will appear in the third OVA series, but, well, for those of you that haven't been following the little snippets of information AIC has released and want to stay "fresh", all I'll say is that it's NOT the same Kiyone from Tenchi Universe; not the same character design or voice actress and she's not a Galaxy Police Detective First Class, or in the Galaxy Police at all. Just a completely separate character with the same name. (If you know what "Kiyone" was originally going to be, then, yes, it's that Kiyone that will appear.) |
