What the hell does any of this have to do with anime? You can't bootleg videos, and parents can do exactly what they could do before - fastforward through certain scenes on movies. Now they just don't have to press the button. Congrats, this thread is pointless.

Well it means that movie studios and even anime distributors can be screwed out of whatever residuals are made off the censored versions of their titles.

They aren't selling edited copies of the movies, just filters for dvd players.

I agree as well. This isn't doing anything to the DVD's that the distributors make, it's just hardware in the DVD player that allows parents to decide what their children can see on those DVDs. If you aren't controlled by your parents on what DVDs you can watch then this won't affect you at all Very Happy . Also, the attempts to stop movies and such from being leaked while still being in the theaters and before the actual release to the market is a good thing in my eyes.

the clear pay service is not paying the people who make the films. This is taking money away from them, and given to clearplay.

well, thats sort of bad. I just hope all the DVD players of the future don't have this. but then again my parents couldn't care less what goes on in my anime. They would never lock down the DVD player. And I know for a fact, that there are always ways around locks and limits on things like that. My friend got me over at his house a week ago to reset the controls on his sattelite reciever, and his parents forgot the password. What do you do? open it up, and pull a few jumpers out to reset it. simple as that!
there will always be ways around this sort of thing. locking down DVD players will never work, for people will always be able to get pass them.
So yeah, this thread is not really interesting. Now all I have to worry about, is wether the racoons are going scratch in my garbage tonight or not.

I seem to recall its Tipper Gore and Joe Liberman that were fighting for content regulation. both die hard democrats.

Ok so they are pretty much saying that they are going to crack down of bootlegs and internet dowloading. That is good.

They want to destroy porn and extreme graphic violance on in the media...To some extent that maybe good. But there are the ratings for movies. So obviously the parents must know what some of the content are in the movies. Besides if your kid is going to a public school, what wont they see or hear. At some point in a humans life they will find out "where babies coem from" and they'll find out the atrocities of war and violance. The sooner people see it the soon it could stop.

But the dvd player thing...thats bs...just dont get it or whatever,

besides Mr. motherf*** bush likes his gay porn and guns doesnt he? Laughing

Yes, Clearplay is making money, but the studios are not losing money. The suit filed against them is just the studios seeing a sly way to make money for not doing anything. I'm shocked the idea would even be controversial, if some parents want to pay for the sevice, why should anyone else be bothered by it?

Exactly, I highly doubt it's something that would become staple in all DVD players or something that we'd have to get around in order to watch the movies we wanted to. It's simply a service parents can use if they wish to do so. I agree that if a child goes to public school then they are very open to things, but if a parent wants to keep it out of the home then they at least have the right to do so. I see this as nothing more then the V chip, I believe that's the right letter Very Happy , for DVD players. I'm sure lots of people who are against this new DVD feature has one in their TV but has it ever kept you from watching your shows when not used?

I just feel sorry for the viewers missing out on the fun stuff because of their parents' beliefs.
