Hi . Me again. Well Chirstmas is coming up so I need to make a list, plus, I want to go buy some new stuff (latest purchase was FMA 1+2+3+4 and Genshiken 1+2+3). I was hoping to preferably get one-shots, however if you know of a really good series please mention it as well; and so this doesn't turn into a list thread, make sure you say why you liked it. Just know that I like everything, but the following are no-go's:
-Demon Ororon -.hack//twilight And I'm already considering the following: -Sexy Voice & Robo -Mermaid Saga -Domu Thanks! -edo |

I can't comment on Mermaid Saga, but Domu is brilliant. |

Basically it's about a young girl (Sexy Voice) with the ability to speak in several diffrent voices and a dream of changing the world. Teamed up with a bumbling 20-something (Robo), she takes on various assignments for a kindly old gangster and has numerous adventures. The setup is rather simplistic, but the manga truely shines in characters and the world Kuroda creates. A good review can be found here: http://www.comicworldnews.com/cgi-bin/index.cgi?column=flipped&page=45. Also, here's the page of the Media Arts Awards, which Sexy Voice won in 2002: http://plaza.bunka.go.jp/english/festival/backnumber/14/sakuhin/sexy_voice.html. |

I agree with Kagemusha about Sexy Voice and Robo. I bought it on a whim (after I read a previous recommendation in the manga forum) and quickly fell in love with it. The artwork is original and beautiful, and the characters are very endearing. Be sure to check it out.
Domu is a classic. It's my favorite Otomo manga and has some of the most detailed background art I've ever seen. Absolutely brilliant. Mermaid Saga isn't bad, but nowhere near the same league as the other two titles. I'm a little biased, though; I'm by no means the world's biggest Rumiko Takahashi fan. |

If you want some great one shot books, I recommend all of the Erica Sakurazawa releases (Tokyopop). They are all great stories involving romances that go somewhere wierd. I highly recommend picking up any her books and giving it a read, if you like one you'll probably like all of her work.

I would recomened Cowboy Bebop for it's wonderful character design and great story telling. Bleach, because it has good humour, good artwork, a good story that seems to never slow and again, you can really get into each character of the manga. I like Samurai Deeeper Kyo due due to how it is a mix of fantasy and originallity, with a backdrop of some actual historical trurth (sorry if that doesn't make sense, but if you read the manga, you'd probably understand).

my only concern for buying bleach and samurai deeper kyo is the fact that they're long series |
