http://www.aintitcoolnews.com/display.cgi?id=18859 caught him on NPR admitting he'd be doing GunM. (Some day.) I had a feeling not many people would care, but this is ridiculous.

I don't know much about Battle Angel, but I have been on a Cameron kick recently. He's awefully good at doing sequals...I don't know about remakes though.
I don't know if this is interesting or just me being a geek, but am I the only one that noticed that Cameron is doing Battle Angel, Pitof is doing Akira, and they both worked on an Alien movie? Maybe Ridley Scott or David Fincher could do some anime remakes too. |

"shooting draft, the main character will be completely created using CG, and the film will be shot in 3-D."
what? how the hell does that work exactly? so is it live action? or a cartoon. |

He's been shooting his mouth on and off about that for six years. While I think it's far more likely that live-action Gunmn/BAA will get out of preproduction hell than, say, live-action Evangelion, I will still maintain my skepticism that it will get made pretty much up until the day I have a ticket to see it in my hands.

Now that I read the PR for it. It's a live action show with a CG main character and the film will be 3-D. I saw his Titanic 3-D documentary in IMAX. It was pretty sweet. (Though I have to admit that the 3-D waves bashing against the side of the ship made me a little queasy.) It could be pretty cool to see Battle Angel in 3-D. |

I feel bad for Christina Ricci, she would've made a good Alita.

Why is Cameron taking more time between movies than the Beastie Boys between albums?

Who knows. Maybe he's still bitter over how much he had to pay Linda Hamilton in alimony. But completely in 3-D? That's going to be a bit odd. Personally I would have prefered a Sky Captain/Cassern look. With his name attached to it I think it has a good chance of getting out of preproduction, though who knows how long it will take. |

I actually said this in another forum. If Cameron is to direct this movie, then I probably will not be watching it. It's gonna be too slicked up, too polished. I'm actually hoping (against hope I guess) that they'd give it a more gritty feel, which I think Cameron is not capable of.

No I think Cameron can do gritty just fine. Look at Aliens or the Terminator! perfect movies that had that lived in future look rather than the highly polished futures of say star wars prequels!

Aliens was a pretty gritty film.

That was ages ago. When I think that Battle Angel might end up looking like the Titanic, I shudder. |

So was Titanic. Cameron isn't the most prolific director.

Because, of course, once somebody makes a certain kind of film, they are completely incapable of returning to an earlier style. |

I'd be worried if Battle Angel ended up looking like Dark Angel myself...
