I wonder if this is the guy that posted the starter evolutions and caused everyone to go batshit crazy with "THEY CAN'T BE REEEEEEEEEELZ". I'm amazed that they can catch this guy, but not the ones that posted every issue of CoroCoro 2-3 days before it hit shelves. Or the snitch that gives the Pokemon sites their "inside source".

I'm wondering if this is related to why PokeBeach and Serebii.net had to remove their images, and why Bulbapedia and others were not.

What?

*reads again*

WHAT?

The japanese police seem to have gotten their priorities completely screwed up and instead of solving real crimes they are running petty errands for big corporations. This is insane.

Ok, I'm kind of tired of the stock response to an article like this being, "Don't the cops have real crimes to solve?" Or something similar. Believe it or not, police organizations have multiple divisions which focus on many different kinds of crimes. They are capable of focusing on more than one at a time.

Furthermore, it is their job to enforce all laws, not just the "serious" ones. So don't commit crime, regardless of how minor, and they won't come knockin' at your door. But hey, maybe I'm wrong. If you do something like this guy did, or distribute fansubs/scanlations and the cops come to arrest you, go ahead and tell them they should be out catching "real criminals" instead of arresting you. Maybe it'll work. Rolling Eyes

The Chikusei Police discovered the images while on "cyber patrol"...

Oh, dear, I'll never again hate the criminality in the country I live. That's exactly what keeps the police away from "cyber patrols".

And to think we all could live happily if they could just stick to donuts whenever there's no valid crimes going on. Or patrolling motorways where I'm endangering passive drivers by making it to 100mph between the speed traps. Or am I. No, I'd never break the law so that's obviously a joke.

oh no the world is in trouble! Whatever are we going to do? *rolls eyes*. Really, what's the big deal if they post images before the game's release? People are going to eventually play them and see the images anyway. This is absolutely rediculous. Like others have said, Japanese cops need to solve the more serious crimes.

you know, my initial response was also that of "seriously? arresting a man for posting images of pokemon? that is the most ridiculous thing I've ever read." But the article doesn't mention jail time or anything, so I doubt this guy is going to get in that much trouble. He's probably just gonna be fined or something. Maybe Pokemon will sue him or something. Either way, I don't thing it's really that big of a deal.

So, is this Team Rocket, Team Magma, Team Aqua, or Team Galactic's fault?

Those two sites were using roms of the game for their info.

Probably suspended sentence/probation as that is what the other magazine leakers have been getting.

When I started reading the article, I was thinking something along those lines. Then I thought that maybe he was posting disc/cartridge images, and not pictures. I could understand getting arrested for that. After reading a few more sentences, I was back to "Really? Getting arrested for pictures?" <sigh>

Well, that was interesting, if only in weird way...

Has to be Team Plasma. (Pictures of) Pokemon want to be free and all that.
