And here we go again.
You can't convict people for their thoughts and fantasies, only their actions. |

Yet more reason why America needs to leave the UN.
Thoughts cannot be policed! |

Seconding that you should only ban them if they are turning into actions. Japan's very low crime rate suggests that the large amount of porn isn't making Japanese men who buy the porn the psycho-rapists that these groups like to paint them to be.
So what's the point of banning them? I'm female, but I don't feel horribly offended by the existence of explicit games because a drawing is still obviously a drawing and the fact that men like porn isn't going to change any time soon. |

Oh well, what a way to kill the H-industry outside and maybe inside Japan.
We are now going to the age of all-consensual H and no more rapes. Just like removing the word "hot" from "hot sauce". |

Yeah, Japan needs to learn to ignore foreign intervention. They have low crime and are a peaceful country, what the f*** more does the UN want from them?
The UN should worry more about some of their own child molesting workers first... |

ITS A CARTOON! While I do agree to get rid of the child pornography hentai and magna. Its still cartoons. Its not real people. And last time I check Rape is still role play in porn in America.....and I check often! |

Here we go...
I'm not particularly outraged over it but I don't believe in censorship when it's pretty much a victimless crime. No one and nothing real is really being hurt (except maybe the otaku's social skills) Ironically though lots of subtle(and not so subtle) woman bashing will come out of this issue. |

More thought police BS. Because, y'know, taking out your urges on a virtual character is totally gonna make you want to go do it in real life. Right.
Let people do what they want. They're not hurting anyone. |

How nonsensical and transparent.
Back in the days, the Black Panthers fought for African-American rights and liberties. And they obtained their deserved rights and equality. Now what do the Black Panthers do? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XmrDIFWd6cM I get so tired of social ethnic groups vie for power after they've obtained their goal. It's the ultimate example of human greed; when you obtain what you want, you just want more afterward. |

And what does the action of ethnic groups vying for power have to do with this UN initiative? They're too completely different groups, and this group that's pushing this isn't even ethnic in nature.
Let's keep this on topic, and definitely not try to turn this in to something racial when it's nothing of the sort. |

Yeah okay UN, like anyone will comply with your demands. How about trying to stop wars and genocide and not ruining peoples' fun with things that don't exist?
I'm guessing all the UN can do is write and angry letter. Last edited by walw6pK4Alo on Fri Aug 28, 2009 12:11 am; edited 1 time in total |

Yikes! My bad! Typo! O_O;; I I forgot to add "ethnic groups and the such", as in civil rights groups and civil committees included...UN included. Didn't mean to accidentally steer off! ^^;; And yeah, I agree with walw6pK4Alo. >:< Instead of screwing around, maybe they ought to Un-nazi the world or something... Ten points to whoever gets that reference... |

UN keep your dirty hands off Japan and their freedom of expression. Seriously, debates that rape Hentai increases crime rates is ridiculous.
It's like an article I read a little while ago when a doctor modified prescriptions of a few women, patients, making them drug addicted and than demanded sex to "keep" their dose. Could we demand that all drugs be banned for they might be used in the same way? Hentai just might push unstable people to crime. And what about violent video games? This is no longer a fight for equality of women, it is a suppression of freedom of speech. |

This is a waste of the United Nations's time and resources. I'm dumbfounded enough that they actually gave in to Equality Now's hypersensitive campaign. They're free to hate or feel offended by the material, but outright banning it resolves nothing on the issue of women's rights. I've heard of enough issues regarding women in the Middle East that could use UN and EN pressure instead of pressuring the daylights out of Japan's eroge and hentai industries.

War is Peace
Freedom is Slavery Ignorance is Strength Who knew the Inner Party existed already with an alternate alias! Shouldn't child pornography and mistreatment against women in real-life be more serious issues than those in virtual reality? Get your [expletive] priority straight. |
