Awww, that stinks. I admittedly haven't read any of his works, but I did buy that pink artbook Right Stuf put out before it shuttered, and I really enjoyed it. It was super nice reading about how he influenced the look of classic shoujo manga. May he rest in peace.

I'm not familiar with his work, but any passing/death of a manga pioneer is very sad and unfortunate. I just finished reading the ANN interview from 2022 (how I missed it is beyond me), and I understand his impact on shojo manga. So my message is RIP, your contribution to shojo manga genre will not be forgotten.

The pioneer of Shojo we know today lived a good life. Really sucks that he passed away from cancer. Thank you for all that you’ve done.
RIP

Dang. The 1950s were an interesting time for manga. Were his works ever translated to English?
