Wow... R2? Truly a sign of the quality this year.

Also, Macross deserves the song award, but for "Diamond Crevasse", not the inferior "Triangular".

Theatrical Award was well deserved. Though the new content was miniscule, few movies have ever reached Rebuild of Evangelion 1.0's sheer quality. It made such an overplayed/sold/talked about series fresh and exciting all over again. It certainly lit up the old, rusty, eva fan in me. I can safely say it did for many others too.

I guess Code Geass isn't that bad of a pick, they could have done worse, they could have awarded Macross Frontier Laughing. Code Geass is great entertainment, unintentional entertainment at that. Few train wrecks have ever reached that level of entertainment.

Agreed.

Triangular isnt even on my list of top 300 anime songs...it really just lacks flow...

Hooray, another award for Dennou Coil! It deserves all the awards it can get, in my opinion. It's a fantastic series that needs more audience attention. Smile

Congratulations to Maaya Sakamoto as well! Not my favorite song of hers (nor my favorite Macross Frontier song), but as a big fan of both her and Kanno I'm glad they won. Very Happy

And as skeptical as I was about the Eva remake, I must say the movie was fantastic and deserved the award. I considered myself fairly neutral on Eva, but after seeing the movie I feel like I appreciate the whole story anew. I hope the next ones are as good!

Code Geass?? Again?

What were the start and end dates for eligibility? I mean, last season was kind of weak, but still!

I couldn't get past the second episode of the first season (I keep thinking I should go back and give it another try, but i am not a big mecha fan and there was so much in first two episodes...)

I know nothing about these awards, nor how they are actually determined, but for all those amused about R2 winning...I'd say entertainment is a quality in its own right.

If I really wanted to nitpick the whole thing apart, I probably could...but you know, R2 has entertained me quite a bit and even then it's not that bad. I'd argue it's both intentionally and unintentionally entertaining too, not just one or the other. So no bashing required, but I guess that's just me (which is fine, really... Razz ).

True... I'm not sure what the process is, but they seem to very... random in what they give them to. Previous winners have included "Gankutstuou," "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya," "Cowboy Bebop," "RahXephon," "Infinite Ryvius," "Neongenesis Evangelion," and "Revolutionary Girl Utena," which all have nothing in common except being good. All I'm saying is, the first season won, couldn't they let another series get the prize?

Also, is your icon who I think it is? spoiler[Claire Stanfield, aka Vino, from Baccano!? If so, he's totally my favorite character in that series]

Certainly, that would have been a good idea. But that remains a question we can't really answer right now.

Bingo. Very Happy

I could have picked a different image, but it could be too much of a spoiler. Laughing
