Why not wait a few years for this movie to become a dvd? I am sure those tickets cost more than any movie dvd. Besides that way people can avoid the over obsessive fans who wait outside theaters for hours. Or don't shower for the matter.

(a) To see it on a big screen in a theater. Just like Japanese fans got to do. It's not rocket science.
(b) The DVD will probably release about 3- 4 months later, not years.

More like half the cost of the DVD actually.

Yeah, since the Naruto movie pulled in a massive 36 ticket-buyers per theater when it showed, I'm sure the crowds for this are going to be just terrible.

I don't know. Here in the Pittsburgh area the theater for Naruto was completely sold out. They actually started ushering in people to make sure no one left gaps. It was quite a sight to see anime in theaters, with some brief VA interviews, and all the cosplayers, etc.

Admittedly, some of the fans (especially the young ones) were far too rowdy. The older ones constantly interjected during the movie with snarky remarks. The kids just screamed their guts out in excitement.

Personally, I don't know what I think about going to see Bleach in theaters. I'd love to see it in the theater, but I don't think my ears can handle kids screaming in that super shrill tone at the top of their lungs.

Tickets to Naruto cost $10, which I then got back in the form of a Regal gift card for taking a survey. In other words, it was free. (although I do think there were a limited number of surveys)

Naruto was also such a great presentation IMO that I'm planning to get tickets to both the Death Note and Bleach movies. I don't even usually watch dubs, and I really enjoyed myself. I actually found all the little obsessive fan kiddies to be kind of touching--it was great to see families going to see anime at the theater.

Someone mentioned Pittsburgh being sold out--it felt like Philly was too from sitting inside the theater, but I don't know the numbers. It was definitely crowded, though.

Same here. My area missed out on the FMA movie and every other anime movie that's been shown in theaters. So, chances are very high that we'll miss out on Death Note and Bleach, as well.

I'm just waiting for the DVDs to be released, like I did with the FMA movie.

You've either got really expensive movie theaters, or insanely cheap anime DVDs. Tickets where I live are generally about $8-10, while DVDs tend to be about $25 without sales, pre-orders or other discounts.

Or he lives in Tokyo, where tickets start at $18.

Blah, my town holds its own animation festival every year and the best we get are the Miyazaki films in theaters.

Are they showing a dubbed form of the movie or are they showing it with subtitles?

I would assume dub, since they recently announced they had licensed it too. What's the point of dubbing it and then doing a theater run with the subtitle instead?

The Bleach dub isn't bad either, so the dub being in theaters isn't a bad thing.

That's what I would like to know. It's a family friendly time but definitely not a working person friendly time.
