![]() Mecha-Ude: Mechanical Arms (TV) Source: Original Demographic: Shounen Animation Studio: TriF Studio Genres: action, comedy, drama, science fiction Themes: aliens, conspiracy, factions, school, superpowers, transformations Plot Summary: Long ago, alien lifeforms came to Earth, fusing with people on the planet. Due to their appearance, they were dubbed "Mecha-ude," as when fused, they bore a striking resemblance to mechanized limbs. Through an involuntary partnership, average middle schooler Hikaru Amatsuga works alongside the Mecha-ude Arma, who is an extremely rare and special existence. To protect Arma, the resistance group ARMS assigns the dual Mecha-ude user Aki Murasame to follow him wherever he goes. However, she is also looking for a mysterious Snake-Type Mecha-ude wielder, who has put many of her comrades in a critical state. Behind the scenes, an organization known as the Kagami Group is searching for the mythical "Trigger Arm," a Mecha-ude said to grant unlimited power. When Aki's life is threatened by this group, Hikaru must team up with Arma to find the courage to fight back and, along the way, learn that his life will never be ordinary again. [-MAL] Air Date & Platform: October 4, 2024 (Friday) Available on: Crunchyroll Episode Count / Runtime: 12 episodes ---------------------------------- An unknown studio, but the key art looks pretty cool, they've got A-list seiyuu doing the voice-work, and Hiroyuki Sawano doing the score. Here's hoping for some epic-ness. Last edited by Tony K. on Wed Jan 01, 2025 5:47 pm; edited 3 times in total |

The first episode was a fun yet chaotic start. We have the nice yet awkward mc team up with Arma the amnesiac mecha arm. We also have decent looking action that is pretty hectic and several factions wanting to get Arma while seemingly not caring all that much about the attached mc. There was even a bit of humor with that one girl not seeming to be the tactical type to say the least.
Nothing amazing but fun/interesting enough to keep watching. |

The mc sure got a raw deal during the first two episodes. One side wants to kill him to get to Arma and the other will keep him alive but does not need him. Meanwhile said mc has nearly been killed by drones and several people wielding their mecha arms several times. Arma has not been much help either though given the cover picture that should change.
There is also the green haired dude who seems to be a human type mecha? |

I just binged the first 3 episodes and was pleasantly surprised at how fun this show is. If anybody out there is also watching Dan Da Dan, this is a slightly less-flashy, but still epic and more sci-fi alternative that I would recommend. It's like a mix between Parasyte and Kaiju No. 8, with a high-school-age protagonist and his symbiotic relationship with a sentient alien mechanical arm. Great stuff, so far.

Yeah, it feels like the show is getting a bit sleeped on. With the third episode we had a great moment in the seemingly powerless MC (one too many people called him powerless/not needed) saying eff it and going for it with a pretty cool looking form as the result. Also surprising is that green haired dude is in fact not Aki's nemesis.

A pretty chaotic episode this week. Seems like Jun is becoming something of a frenemy (the school bits were very lively in part due to Meru) and the not at all still alive sister of Aki is a villain with some sort of infection type mecha. The main story is also taking shape with the whole sealing of a mecha god thing.

Holy rush Batman, maybe calm down a little to let the events in the episode breath a bit before jumping to even more events taking place.

The last few episodes have been great, paticularly involvong the Mech Fights, the story is honestly kind of cliche at times, but I still find it enjoyable.
spoiler[I seriously doubt Hikaru is actually dead, or going to stay dead, but we'll still need to wait for the next episode] |

Yeah, it has been a good show so far, even if it can be rather uneven at times. Some episodes try to pack too many events in and thus feel very rushed while others keep you glued to your seat. Despite it being only 12 episodes I am glad that some of the side characters have gotten some attention too. Episode 11 in particular gave everyone some shine before getting the MC back into action to pull out a victory.

That was a solid final episode. The fight was a good back and forth with some story sprinkled in. The ending is interesting in that it did show a conclusion but the images during the credits clearly showed stuff happening after that such as chaos in the Mecha-Ude world with Alma returning and the gang heading over there. I suppose that informs us what a second season would have been about.
Overall, good show that is uneven but a fun watch. |
