It's both a bit too dry and a bit too niche to easily recommend, but it very much hit the spot for me, to the point where I've got the first volume of the manga ordered.

I too was baffled by those brown subtitle cards. Didn't anyone look at how that turned out while they were processing them? I also had a similar problem with Wistoria, where the subs on the info cards were hard to read because of the yellow outlines on a sepia background, though not as bad as this.
Aside from that, I had a good time with this, and hope to find out more about Clay's and Belle's pasts.

Glad to see a reviewer catch on to a show we in the Forums have been talking about and appreciating for a while. With the growing seasonal lineups, there have been a few shows each season, usually ranked towards the bottom of the Your Anime Rankings column, that aren't covered in weekly streaming reviews because they didn't initially catch enough interest based on the first episode reviews but which are nonetheless not "bad" and in cases like this are actually "good" or sometimes "quite good" and thus underappreciated.
Key and I seem to have been identifying and gravitating to these the last few seasons and I have been enjoying this one all season for it's charm, interestingly built setting, low-key good characterizations and efficient but enjoyable artwork. It's not in the league of Oshi no Ko, Monogatari or Spice&Wolf but then again, it's not the same sort of "animal" and should be appreciated on it's own merits. I have no trouble recommending this show to those who can do the latter and appreciate quality...

My only complaint is that the manga is just 1 volume ahead, it would be nice if the anime could lead to an increased pace of the chapter release, i need more maid Clay.

I really like how cute the show was and some of the logic behind the functioning of the dungeon was well thought out. The dark bits surprised me but it is a show about a dungeon were people run the risk of dying (plus that some of said people in the show were not good people).
I would like to find out what happened to Clay's father so maybe there will be a second season someday.

It makes really good use of meta-textual D&D references like the blueprint blue dungeon plans or thieves not being part of original make up of people who explored dungeons. The humour is as mild as the old Dragon Mirth section of Dragon Magazine, but it's very clever in how it takes elements of the history of the game and turns them into the history of this world.

I quite enjoyed the show, with my only caveat being the continued use of the stero type of goblins being mass rapists. The found friendship is adorable and appealing to many a nerd out there. Soft adventuring vibes gives it a somewhat safe backing but also allows to show to defy convention in introducing concepts about the dungeon to provide interest.
I wonder if the show might start to lose pace if it continued because it would be starting to run out of new things to show off about the dungeon. You could do a bit of advanced course material about taking what we have learned and making it more complicated but that would only postpone it.

You mean the part where it cited the trope only to immediately subvert it?

Yes. Though it didn't subvert it, it openly admitted to using it. The previous dungeon master just found it inefficient. Now I am happy they didn't actively use said Japanese trope in their dungeon, but I dislike the trope in its entirety.
It was a hit against the show for me, but a small enough thing to not impact the shows enjoyment too much. After all Dungeon People has had moments of bleak dark matters throughout its run, coming through the cracks of its childlike surface level.

This was an enjoyable weekly watch. The world building for this unique dungeon was fun to see each week. Hopefully we get more

What, the brown on brown didn't work for you?
The first time that showed up I'm pretty sure I said out loud, "Seriously???"

Really loved this show, including its weirdly impactful dark streak (exaggerated by the cutsie art style). Bell freaking out because she blew in half and thus ruined the body of a guy she'd intended to turn into a zombie, with her comical reaction animated like a scene from K-On!, really made me laugh. Hope we get a season two.
