I often wonder why Kadokawa let Aniplex produce anime adaptations of their own books (some of their more famous ones, even!), while they're fully capable of doing it themselves.
I mean, they are practically rivals. Confused

Nice to hear this series is getting an anime adaption, hope it turns out well.

Not sure if "shy" is the best description for Monica though. spoiler[Being traumatized to the point you view the world as numbers and mathematical formulas to cope is a bit more than simply being shy.]

Isn't the official English title of both the LN and the manga Secrets of the Silent Witch? It's in the Japanese logo of the anime too. Don't see a particular reason to use the shortened form.

Anyway, not a huge surprise since it was leaked a while ago, but I'm sure a lot of people were expecting something different from the hyped-up big announcement. I for one am interested since it seems like the kind of fantasy that I dig (though I did also get that feeling of Unnamed Memory and in the end didn't even watch it because I heard it got butchered in adaptation... here's hoping this one doesn't go to studio Engi)

One of the best light novels running, and up there in best selling titles without an anime, so let's hope they held out for a prestige production that can do the books justice. I feel like Monica in particular will live and die based on how authentic they make her social issues feel; if they make her bow to any lamp posts it's over.

Trying to work out what this means. Is it a reference to something?

A whole lot of anime with shy characters have them bump into inanimate objects, then bow to them, apologizing repeatedly. It's a pretty common cliche. Both Witch from Mercury and Shy did variants on it recently.

Monica's social anxieties are played for laughs, but in a way that always feels real; if they go for that sort of broad portrayal it would really work against the show. (Bocchi, on the other hand, nicely avoided it, so it is possible.)
