Hot diggidy-damn! Been far too long since there was a new Slayers TV anime. Glad to hear the original director is on board, too. So long as things don't get overly serious again like they did in TRY, things should be great.

Holy crap.
Slayers was the first anime I saw after Cowboy Bebop got me into the stuff. I love it.
This is awesome. I haven't been this excited for an upcoming project in a while.
Slayers is very mid-'90's style in art and writing, though...will this series be different from the past ones?

This is highly amusing to me as a couple of weekends ago at Katsucon my one room mate and I taked about the Slayers all weekend and I ending up buying the boxsets for the first two seasons.
Now, I am interested in getting the Novels also.
I'm so up for this anime.

It's official. The Japanese have run out of new material.
But wow, Trigun and Slayers all in one day...you won't see me complaining! The anime gods have smiled on us for coming through these troubled times! Now all we have to wait for is the second coming of Geneon...!

I love slayers, and I really liked trigun, but...
If we needed any proof that the Japanese anime industry is having issues, it's that they are going back to the "well" so-to-speak with these "new" series.
At least they got the same people behind it... Let's see if the slayers magic can be rekindled again .

Well, assuming this all pans out, Zac will have to come up with a new answer besides 'it's old and people have stopped caring' when asked about when sequel X is coming out
Now we just need to wait for more Berserk....

As much as I liked Slayers, I have to wonder the same thing. The same ideas ran through my mind as I watched the most recent Slayers output, 2001's Slayers Premium: "This is a 90s franchise, and maybe it's for the best that it not get brought into the digital era." But I certainly won't dismiss it as another You're Under Arrest Full Throttle before even seeing it. Here's hoping that the Slayers magic strikes again and brings destruction to all fools who stand in the way.

Boy I sure do hope they skewer cliches and conventions of the fantasy genre by pointing them out in the most obvious and unfunny ways possible

This made me smile, but these two news articles do lead to some strange hope, I too will wait for news of the second coming with you, I admit seeing more Slayers really shocked me.
@Zac - me too! I found Slayers good cheesy fun!
Unless they seriously update the feel of the show [Slayers] in the production values I don't see it being a big draw for people, maybe those who have fond memories of it, but that group would be limited.

New Slayers! I do hope we get to see somewhat of Lina Inverse, or maybe Naga, since they're my two favorite characters from Slayers.

for example, I hope they meet Larry Gardener and his archi-enemy Mord Lordevort, and then Rina blow all Warthog's Academy with a well-placed Drag Slave
On the first hand, it's good news. On the other... Well, they are re-making Yatterman, for Tezuka's sake, so you can imagine Slayers was not so far from here...
Next year: Yamato 2052 II - now seriously, guys!
