Finishing even later from the previous year's season in its 12th episode, was Chidori RSC, also known as Rifle is Beautiful, really not sure the discrepancy of the English name. It was a mostly pretty simple Cute Girls do X, the X being shooting laser rifles, not sci-fi weapons but things mostly used as practice or less dangerous as actually shooting bullets.

I generally think that the whole thing was dragged down by its early episodes, which just felt like adaptions of a 4-koma manga, that had little business being a full length episode. Just a series of 4-koma jokes that might make you think 'that was interesting' before it started the next one, maybe work has a short, but just ended up feeling too long. I don't know if it is just an element of the source manga, just what this as an anime felt. But it did not stay consistent though, as it did later stop feeling so disjointed and able to do a whole episode justice, though again I think the beginning of the show dragged itself down.

Of the manga is indeed 4-koma, I do feel compelled to bring some comparisons to K-ON, which was also 4-koma but managed to feel like it hid that fact. Totally not fair, because K-ON is a beast that had KyoAni, and a director who got a lot of attention. But I would also not totally discount this show, it was generally pleasant to look at, and I kind of felt that its direction got stronger towards the end, where there was competition and a lot of characters to juggle. Studio 3Hz is something I have had my attention on and wish to see continue to do well after shows like Flip Flappers, Princess Principal, Black Fox, and Sword Art Online Alternative: Gun Gale Online.

I kind of put it on myself how I lost some interest while watching after what I would describe as a bit of a poor start, I kind of think some liberties should have been taken to make it feel like one cohesive episode instead of a collection of shorts. While also thinking positively enough that it managed to keep me returning, not simply seeing it as a time sink. I give it a rating of Decent (6/10), I didn't lose my time.

Not sure a consensus on considering it anime, but since it has a page in the encyclopedia I will mention it. Just finished Castlevania Season 2, I had watched the first season a while back on BD, and getting impatient finding the second season along with wanting to see several other shows like Witcher and Stranger Things convinced me to pick up a Netflix subscription, so I Netflix shows have been added to my watch list. But back onto Castlevania.

I don't have a long history of playing the games, but hype got me a couple years ago to play Symphony of the Night, and the game is pretty fantastic. The second season perhaps helped by having Alucard as one of the principal heroes, along with a boss fight from that game I recognized. All three heroes were actually pretty awesome to watch, special mention to the heroine, Sypha. My main surprise of this season was how much villains were focused on, that you actually could kind of sympathise, more than just evil, not what I expected. Also special mention to the female villain, Carmilla, an interesting femme fatale character.

And don't see many prologue episodes that did such a good job of covering threads after the climax, not necessarily tie them up but at least a sense of direction. Look forward if a third season will be done.

Been watching Oda Cinnamon Nobunaga. It's not the funniest show I've seen, but it's still entertaining. It does rotate the same jokes, but tries to switch up the formula a little bit. Gotta say I wasn't expecting spoiler[the squirrel to be Mitsuhide. I was expecting someone else.]. The ED is comical with footage of actual dogs and the VAs singing/rapping.

I'm one season behind but I just got into "didn't I say to make my abilities average in the next life" I'm about 9 episodes deep. I really like the show and I really like the dub on VRV but damn there is no figures to buy, the show is too new it's too new I got to wait for somebody to make something. That intro has a new kids on the block sound to it, i wonder if anyone else heard that?

I'm currently watching Fushigi Yugi and absolutely loving it. The pleasure. The pain. The endless questions and hard fought answers. The mix of old and new. The players and the pawns. Perhaps the most unlikely and difficult relationship any world has ever known. One step forward and four steps back. How on earth did I manage to ignore this series for so long? Experiences like this are why I keep coming back to anime and why I am so thankful for Geneon's incredible sale. Thank goodness I managed to catch it. This is one series I doubt I'll ever forget.

So, what are you watching and why?

I'm watching Bleach, too much love for this anime, I decided to watch it again

Five episodes in and I'm really enjoying Jeweler Richard. I wasn't too keen on adding it until I learned Takahiro Sakurai was voicing Richard. He's really got his work cut out for him in this, with the lion's share of the dialog and a ton of foreign words to gargle on. Smile But he's really perfect.

The stories are more interesting and poignant than I would've expected too. Seigi, Richard's assistant, is a walking cringe factory though. His heart's always in the right place, but he's so clueless about everything, and in his eagerness to stick his nose into everything he's like a clumsy puppy. It's very entertaining watching the sedate and dignified Richard trying to rein him in and house train him.

Also Promare finally. When I first heard about this, I thought, Hmm, sounds a lot like Fire Force. But then after watching it, I thought, Hmm, this is Fire Force. I mean, if FF turned out to have the same source of the human combustion, I wouldn't be surprised. After Shinra's battle with his little bro, it seems even more likely something very similar will eventually be revealed. I don't know which came first, so maybe FF is Promare.

That aside, well...it was certainly Trigger. At several points I just laughed and said, "Yep, everything transforms." If someone orders a ham sandwich, it will probably transform into a mobile BLT with a side-drill. The plot was ok, but you know, FF and all, so I wasn't really blown out of my seat. The music was terrific though, with great pounding beats.

I've been watching some stuff.

I've been watching some How Heavy Are the Dumbbells You Lift?. An episode here, an episode there, I'm advancing quite slowly through it. The teacher is hot. And, oh, it's somewhat funny, I guess.

Also through the powers of nostalgia and stuff, I've finally watched some episodes of Dragon Ball Super. It's slow as molasses. Whoop-de-doo.

Then I also started watching Fire Force. Seems cool. I feel like there's some SHAFTiness to its direction though. It's not a SHAFT production though and it's not by that SHAFT head tilt director, but I feel like there's some SHAFT influence in the direction. The director seems to have been involved in a lot of SHAFT productions so I can't just be imagining things. As some kind of SHAFT direction hater weirdo I'm not a fan of SHAFT-likeness in the direction, but it's not too SHAFTy to really put me off. The animation is quite nice. The flames are cool and the character designs are nice. I'm liking it. I've only watched 4 episodes so far though and it's supposedly gonna go downhill from here or something. We'll see.

I personally thought that it actually got better as it progressed. The thing that most people find annoying is the random fanservice that sometimes happens during serious moments.

Having watched up to episode 10, I definitely feel like the show has only gotten better. There was a silly fanservice scene that happened during a serious moment, but I wasn't annoyed by it.

Shinra has taken the centre stage of all the big fights so far so I would like to see some of the other characters get to fight some powerful baddies too.

I've been having an on and off relationship with anime. It's been very hit or miss for me these past year or two with the seasonal series so I end up rewatching shows to re-ignite some possible burning passion I had for anime.

Izumo: Takeki Tsurugi no Senki: One of the first isekai series I've watched prior to its recent bloom in popularity. I've really forgotten a lot about it or probably wiped it out of my head for how fast paced it is. It really goes through its "arcs" (if you can really call it that since it barely lasts two episodes) quickly and there really any room for character development. But it is a show that holds a special place in my heart as one of my firsts when watching anime. I still enjoy it despite it's breakneck blitz through the story but if it had slow down and taken time to properly develop each girl in the harem (only two really got character development and one was for plot reasons) , I would definitely like it more. Maybe it's time to get my hands on the game and enjoy it to its fullest.

Asura Cryin': Man, was this show always that confusing? I have no memory of the terminology and what was going on. I certainly don't recall it being it that confusing during my first watch but I must've really marathon'd through it when I first started binge watching anime. It's a really forgettable show as nothing interesting happens and everything's a mystery waiting to be solved. I was going to rewatch the second season but that'll be put on hold for a while.

As for new show(s) I've watched.

Fireworks: Fun SHAFTy movie. As with any SHAFT stuff, its visual is whats makes it enjoyable for me. The 'what if' aspect of the movie work well with SHAFT's stylistic direction and I enjoy the visual differences as spoiler[the timeline repeats and different choices give a different perspective]. Plot has never been SHAFT's strongpoint so I didn't expect much even if this was based on a live action tv series. I also love Akio Watanabe's character designs but the main girl looked too similar to Senjougahara (not that it looks bad but its hard to distinguish). Also DAOKO's song is really good.

I'm watching Fruits Basket (2019), and it's awesome. The original was one of the first anime I watched right around when I joined this forum. It was such a delight that they redid it.

I'm sure by now anyone who really liked the show before has seen it - but if you haven't (and you really liked the show) I genuinely think it's better than the previous one. And that's saying something.

For anyone who has seen it (I'm not sure if this is spoiler-status but) spoiler[they added new content to the show, right? I swear I'm watching scenes that are new. I haven't been reading so much into the industry and doing too much "research" so I don't know if this is common knowledge or if it's even true.]

So nostalgic.

Anyways, cheers.

Watched Toradora! and its one my top favorite romantic comedy type of shows. Everything just clicks for me so well here. Feelings were raw and natural, believable to the end. Journey to get there was well worth it! Loved the VA as well, just nailed it, especially when things were running high. A certain "couple" in Ranma need to take notes! Laughing

The second Girls und Panzer Final movie series, although the first one apparently missed me by, it being a sequel to the GuP movie. Had been quite a while since I saw any of the series, and the first two Final movies, which I see word that there will be six, came up to about an hour and a half together. Had some new interesting teammates in a pirate crew themed guys, and some opponents like a France inspired team and a Japan inspired team, the running jokes for each being as good as always, and also some team song scenes just like what was done with Pravda, I assume that since that was well received back then that they put in a French and Japanese one.

I think the Italian Anzio team continues to be especially funny as totally dysfunctional.
