Can't be any worse than The Boy and the Beast.
Liked The Girl Who Leapt Through Time and Summer Wars, adored Wolf Children, but The Boy and the Beast proved that even Hosoda can get it wrong.

Liked the first plot better. Still debating if I should watch.

Looks amazing from the short sample shown, Hosoda and Studio Chizu rarely falter on the animation front.
I do, however, really hope the story and character development is a lot stronger than the more recent films.

One of my favorite directors, can't wait to see this one!! Was kinda disappointed by Boy and the Beast, hoping that was just a misfire and that this'll be a return to form.

But well, it can be pretty much the same plot - except now it's include his little sister from the future as companion. Because well, it's 4 years old boy.

Yay another Hosoda works through his family issues film. Get Satoko Okudera back as co-writer already.

Oh, another story involving time travel. Didn't enjoy that the first time around...

Sounds very much like something I'd enjoy! Hosada makes such great movies. I liked everything he made so far. So he has my trust.

There's no way this can be bad with such a solid team behind it. Summer Wars is my favorite anime movie of all time; I also really enjoyed The Boy and the Beast (and for some reason haven't gotten around to Wolf Children and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, despite the fact that I own the latter). I'm hyped!

This looks good. I wonder if Funimation will license this.

Yeah, the idea of the main character being a four year old boy is still an issue as the moral of the story would seem to be "don't be selfish". Not really sure why it needs the time travel aspect. Still, it's much better than having him meet a same age or slightly older mother. Think about it: Teenage girl to four year old boy, "I'm your mother!" Somebody must have realized the problem with the logistics behind explaining that situation. Would a four year old recognize.... time travel? Time displaced family members?
It's bad enough he has to take a stranger's words for truth...
Right, no matter how I look at it, the kid needs to be older.

I think the success of a certain film last year made it necessary.

While I thought Boy and the Beast was inferior to the rest of his films, I didn't think it was particularly bad. It was like Cars 1 compared Toy Story, Finding Nemo, and The Incredibles.

Another film akin to Wolf Children please! Since Makoto Shinkai and Naoko Yamada's most recent releases didn't quite meet my expectations, it'd be refreshing to be fully rewarded for lengthily anticipating a feature film.

Glad to know that Hosoda is back to grind. I wonder if he's expecting another child. Could this film reflect a possible future?
