What I've been learning in my nutrition class is that diabetes isn't something you can take lightly for sure, I can at least understand what he had to go through. My condolences to his family.

Wow, hadn't heard that name for years. I remember the days on rec.arts.anime. I'm sorry to hear he passed away. Rest in peace.

No it's not. Many think, "Oh I/they just need a shot of insulin every day and I'm fine." If you're lucky maybe. Diabetes though is a rel killer and can get you when you least expect it when you think yours is under control. My father himself is dealing with it now. The legs and feet become much more prone to infection and disease btw due to bad blood flow or something along those lines. I know my own father has special diabetic socks himself. So I can imagine a small part of what Steve and his family went through. It's not a fun experience and I wouldn't wish it on anyone. So my condolences definitely go out to his family.

Heroes are remembered but legends are never forgotten, and steve was a true legend, he was watching anime since his last days of life, remember him not for his moments of sadness, but for the joy and glory that he gave to many by promoting japanese animation.
Otakuland someday will rise...

This is a shock to me. Steve is a great friend and mentor.
I was president of METRO ANIME, a member of the Atlantic Anime Alliance.
I am sadden by his family's loss.

This is pretty sad to hear...... I'd read about Steve's medical problems, and it's unfortunate he passed away. He was a great asset to anime fandom. RIP
