You Expected high numbers for SF? It was never that popular in Japan as in the West.

Wii-U already has replacement within 5 years.
Handheld games should be selling higher in Japan.
Meanwhile, this may be the beginning of the end for PS Vita and TV outside Japan, with no replacement:

- Tweakers notes that the portable console is still available to buy in other countries in Europe such as Germany, France and England. It’s possible Sony is just stopping support in smaller countries first before ending the system entirely worldwide.

Both are selling bad and both are technically dead worldwide but the Japanese Zone.

They're only getting Terraria now? Wow. Now I know how they felt about RPGs for the last three decades.

"The PS Vita sadly never got a chance to shine as it came out too late in a market where people play games on smartphones and tablets. The Nintendo 3DS managed to survive thanks to its strong library of first party games, but Sony didn’t support the Vita for that long. In October, Sony made it officially known they themselves would no longer develop more games for the Vita, but leave it to third-party developers."

No, they've had Terraria on PS3/PSV/PS4/iOS/Android for a few years now. It's just the 3DS version that launched last week. That only came out last fall in the west.

The Vita could've survived if it had stronger first and third party support. And if someone better worked out the intricacies of the cross-play function (whatever game you buy on whichever platform is free on the other).

Totally thrilling that One Piece: Burning Blood is dominating the ranking by a landslide!

Those two are at an odds with one another. An independent platform cannot have stronger third party support when it's expected that its version should be free with purchase on another platform. We live in an era where the majority of the library on modern video platforms aren't exclusive. Publishers aren't charities, so they aren't going to give things away for free, especially when they can get customers to buy both versions. The only way something like that could work is if there is no additional cost required to get it to run on the device. Vita's hardware isn't very similar to PS3 or PS4's. It costs money to port games. The only reason indie developers flocked to that idea is because they want to make their products more attractive.

When I was talking about stronger third party support I was referring specifically to the Vita getting more than just remakes and rereleases of Persona 4 and DanganRonpa this isn't tied in anyway to the second point I made since those titles weren't made with the cross functionality in mind. Secondly while it is true that some publishers are indeed greedy that doesn't mean the involved parties couldn't have hashed something out concerning the titles released across the Vita/PS4-PS3 that have cross play, cross save functionality. Like where you buy one version of a game but get something like a digital code to download the other version for free, it may not look realistic but still.
