It's not gonna be faithful to the comics, right? Will the transformation scenes have nudity?

Ok, this is really funny. I did not see this coming.

Ok, after spending a couple of days ago thinking about 'Cutey Honey' while taking a shower, I say to myself...

"When the hell are they going to release 'Re: Cutey Honey'?

I know that ANN did mention that it was being considered but the company going to license it remain secret. Then I started thinking about all the shows that were getting remade while others still had yet to be discovered. And then I thought just off the top of my head,
"I'd be surprised if someone decided to want to do a "new" animated version of 'Cutey Honey'." I thought it could happen but maybe not right now. Considering that they they just did a live action one and an animated adaption. And when was someone going to one day release the classic 'Cutey Honey' from the 70's? If 'ImagineAsian' decides to do it I'm there. Mind all a scatter in thougts. I tune into ANN and I see this, that once again my so called crazy premonitions come true. That yes there will be another 'Cutey Honey' series, but not animated.

So they are taking a stab at it one more time. Interesting. Could a new animated version of the manga be not far behind? I mean considering 'Shin Cutey Honey' that was NEVER finished. But I wouldn't mind seeing a new animated one to tell the story from the manga's perspective. But who know how this new live action version is going to do. Whatever the case, either they like the character or Japan is suffering from the same thing we are suffering from. The deal of constantly remaking the same show or movies over and over again. Sometimes it's a good thing sometimes not. But hey, chances are there's bound to a winner somewhere. To be honest I like 'Cutey Honey' and have been a fan of 'Go Nagai'. So if they want keep her live then by all means.

As far as nudity goes, well this is Japan that's no problem. The only one in the series that wasn't as blatant was 'Flash'. You couldn't get any more PC with that one. Razz

This looks like it could be amusing.

I'm still waiting on Re: Cutie Honey too. One would think they would have brought it out with the live action movie since they are companion pieces. Honestly I liked Re: Cutie Honey better then the movie (though the movie was still fun).

Hmmm. I wanna see this.

October 2? That's a Tuesday! That means I think I can stay up to watch it, since I shouldn't have classes on Wednesday. :9 Yaaaay!

(Unless they mean 1 am on October 2 as in early Tuesday/Monday night but that doesn't usually seem to be the case with TV schedules...)

Also worth noting, Yokoyama was a director for Garo, one of the best tokusatsu series in recent memory.

The director of Garo? I'm sold! I love the new costume, too, and the actress looks very pretty.

I am definitely digging the outfit as well. Sexy, slick, and modern, while still keeping to the general old style design.

Oh yeah, you'd like that wouldn't you?

Please don't take this the wrong way, but Japanese show or not, late-night timeslot or not, this is airing on TV Tokyo, a terrestrial TV network/channel, and forgive me for overstating the obvious, but this is live-action and not anime. Live-action is a horse of a totally different color. If it wants to stay on the air, then they (the transformation sequences) won't (contain nudity; and even if her clothing does dissolve/blow apart, the scenes likely won't be explicit). You see, even though "she's a fashionable girl", and "a girl with a small bottom" (referring to the theme song), even Japan has standards...

Speaking of the theme song, I am wondering if this show will feature the previously established one ("Kono goro hayari no onna no ko/oshiri na chiisa na onna no ko..."), or if it will have a different one.

Well, it's also in the same time-slot that Garo had, and that show wasn't worried about showing the occasional breast (I can think of three times on the show where they did it).

Oh, and bonus points for you Alucalb, Mark Musashi (who, of course, works with Yokoyama in AAC Stunts) is in Cutie Honey the Live. He looks more like General Zod than Kodama with that freaky goatee though.

Oh my. How did I (a self-proclaimed "Honey-holic") miss this tidbit of awesome information.

It looks like I am going to have to call in some favors so that I can get copies of the first, second, third, etc. episodes....

This news just made my day. Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy
