This....sounds really cool.

It'll let them bring out dubs faster, while getting some feedback while the show is currently airing before they release it.

Gotta say, I really expected this to be them announcing the rights to the first season of Free though.

I love dubs, so I'll fully support this. I can't wait, I really enjoy both shows. I hope they do the same for future series.

Wow, this is pretty interesting for Funimation to do, simultaneous dub. Smile

Most dubs aren't as good as the original which are better. For examples I saw Fullmetal Alchemist and Code Geass dubs overrated. (Think about it twice and see the code geass review scores.)

Seems Dandy's simul-dub did well for them. It would be pretty cool if they could get future shows under this program on TV.

It's a good idea since the they dub all their shows anyway, you can watch it in English first instead of waiting for it, though since they have already started you can't really say they air at the same time.
I think he is being a bit too optimistic, only a certain number will be dubbed or you run the risk of spending money dubbing it and then there being no interest in it. High profile shows like Psycho-Pass and Attack on Titan will get this treatment but I doubt many others will.

Whoa, I just got a weird flashback to the early 2000s for some reason...

I'm curious to see how this will go. English dubs are already done under a pretty rushed environment as it is. Funimation does a good job with them though, and if Space Dandy is any indication there won't be any real drop in quality for a simul-dub.

I was relieved to hear that the projects are being worked on ahead of time with the Japanese licensors, like with the Space Dandy situation. For a second, I was worried that they were just going to quickly dub an episode in a week and end up releasing really crappy dubs xD.

I do wonder whether the benefits of this will outweigh the costs though. I mean, Rojas mentioned some issues that will come up, like the 2.0/5.1 thing, but there will also be some things that would no doubt add to the expense of producing the home video releases, such as mixing the old audio tracks to newer home video masters, having 5.1 audio and the cost of vocal re-takes.

Although the UK is usually locked out of series' that FUNimation have the U.S. simulcast rights for, there have been recent cases where we have had access to series' through other services, like Animax or Wakanim. When Space Dandy was simulcast, we had access to season 1's dub, not season 2's. I also wonder if FUNimation will make these dubs accessible to foreign licensors too, or not?

Sounds pretty cool to me! I cant imagine this being easy, but they did a pretty good job with Space Dandy so Imma be hopeful.

I wonder what decides which series gets dubbed? PsychoPass 2 I get cause the first season was successful, but did laughing under the clouds get chosen cause it was doing well? Or was it just cause the Japanese creators were willing to work with them on giving them materials early? A little bit of both maybe?

I woulda picked Bahamut instead of LUTC personally, but this is still cool news Smile

Funi officially has a new subscriber with this awesome announcement. I just wonder how they'll actually do it for Psycho Pass 2 - Kate Oxley who plays the lead Akane is a schoolteacher by day I remember reading. That's a HUGE commitment to ask of someone.

Space Dandy had an excellent English-language version, but I'm very skeptical that they can keep doing this simulcast dubbing thing and maintain any real quality.

wow.... well that was anti-climactic for me. I was hoping for something on Tatami Galaxy, Ping Pong, Eva 3.33, or a new pick-up. As a sub-only guy, this means nothing to me.

I'm happy for all you dub guys out there though. Hopefully that quality won't drop.

That is obviously subjective. Even the subbed version can be overrated and this might be the case more often than a dub version.

If they could do a simuldub fof Vanadis, I will be happy.
