It could be aiming being a parody. By this logic, you could could say that the anime made after the Super Sentai would be getting this legal issue.

...and Power Rangers is the only Japanese super hero series in existence?
And let's not forget the clear cash-in to Power Rangers' popularity BeetleBords and VR Troopers. Gotta prove its blatant Plagiarism. Maybe they gained inspiration from Go Lion (aka Voltron); Saint Seiya; or any of the others that exist. So, dear Saban, Power Rangers isn't the only Super Hero show with color coordinated heroes... go home, you're drunk. |

Then, let's not forget the 1st superhero manga/anime team, Cyborg 009, turned 50 on the 19th.

Uh, Power Rangers isn't a Japanese series. It's a US creation using footage from Super Sentai. Also, Beetleborgs and VR Troopers (also US creations) are adapted from two of the Metal Heroes series (Juukou B-Fighter and it's sequel, and Metalder, Spielban, and Shaider). The latter of those (which was used for VR Troopers), actually pre-date Zyuuranger, which was adapted into the original season of Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers.
What bothers me, is that this has nothing to do with Power Rangers. It's clearly listed as being Super Sentai inspired, and I can't find anything saying that Saban owns the rights to Sentai in Brazil (where this is based), or that they have the authority to enforce Toei's copyrights outside of Japan (like FUNimation has been tasked with doing for some titles). Unless there are specific things more than "generic color-coded spandex suits" in the game, I don't see how Saban really has any involvement in this. |

Once again proof that copyright laws stifle creation, not enhance it.

All the shows you listed were inspired by sentai. Sentai is the originator of Go Lion, Metal Heroes, and all that jazz.
As much as I like putting Saban's little self important ego in its place, the promo is clearly is using Zyuranger colors and designs so it's pretty much BS on Chroma Squad's part to try to say it's not trying to ape the PR image and is being 'all of sentai'. Maybe if they used Goranger or something, but they knew what they were doing with those designs. |

Well, Saban owns the western versions of those two. |

Being inspired by something is not plagiarism. Regardless of this game being inspired bv Power Rangers, Voltron, Samurai Pizza Cats, Sailor Moon, Saint Seiya, Pretty Cure, Tokyo Mew Mew, Kamen Rider, or any of the number of shows that use similar super heroish crap; if it is not a direct copy of it it is not a direct copy of it and falls under Fair Use. If Saban or Toei fully owned "color-codinated heroes who fight villains using tools and sometimes giant robots" there would be loads of anime that didn't exist. That's because a theme is not something that can be snatched and held forever. It's already been parodied to hell and back in various media including Disgaea, Dragon Ball Z, and others. It's quite obvious that its a parody, this game, all they have to do is slap on a "this is a parody of super hero genre" and nothing will happen 'cause nothing can happen. I don't see the owners of Disgaea, DBZ, or Robot Chicken being sued or wanting a cut for parody. So yeah, I'll say it again, Dear Saban, go home, you're drunk. ...Edit: and heck! if you don't know what I mean when I mention Disgaea just go watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WWW9D_kFezE... And gosh darn its even more parodish that two of the English voice actors are Power Rangers' actors! Edit2: ... Oh and I forgot to mention.. Super Sentai wasn't the first of its kind; it's just the more well known so regardless of the mentioned ones being after Super Sentai, it, too was after others. So we can drag it to the beginning if you want. Last edited by Lady Multi on Mon Jul 21, 2014 3:09 am; edited 2 times in total |

I loved the original set up to Turbo (Turbo ruined it for me) and then the series went to crap. If you want to be picky, Saban is basically ripping off Super Sentai at this point. I'd actually love if they lost the rights so we can get the real Super Sentai licensed at this point.... It's gone the to join the "horrible" localization with all these new Power Ranger crap shows. The only thing I"ll love Saban for is the original Power Rangers and the dub of Samurai Pizza Cats.. but that was their glory days; that's over now. ...I just want to pun it up now... Saban is just being a DiC now. |

I do not agree with saban or like how their company operates but they have invested millions in their power ranger franchise and they have the right to protect it.
either way, almost ALL the super sentai are owned by the same company that Saban licensed from, so claiming its from this or that is meaningless. any person with common sense can see those charcaters and their colors and the giant robot battles are clearly a rip-off. I am more curious to know if this is a brazillian company kick start why the hell are they trying to take money from the japanese with the japanese commercials. AND if they are taking japanese money why dont they release the game in japan where saban wouldnt have any rights to contest the release in the first place. this company sounds way too fishy to me. |

What is Saban doing?
You are the dub of cheesy dubbing and using stock footage. You don't beg for sentai royalties. |

Unless they were using direct names from the Power Rangers series, copyright law would actually protect Behold Games, since Fair Use covers their right to parody (assuming Brazilian laws are similar to those of the US). It's not much different from when Capcom was sued by MKR Group because of similarities between Dead Rising and the film Dawn of the Dead, a lawsuit which was subsequently dismissed because of the "wholly unprotectable concept of humans battling zombies in a mall during a zombie outbreak." This is more proof that frivolous lawsuits stifle creation, not copyright law. |

This is pretty distressing given how obvious it is that this is an homage to super sentai in general.
It makes me suspect that anyone who fancies making a sentai esque "teens in colorful costumes vs monsters" project of any sort will be quick to get a cease and desist from Saban's people. |
