Wow, so many mecha series this year. I already lost count! I'll give this one a try too I guess.

We're going mecha crazy!
Anyway, that little scene at 0.36 put me off a bit. Not to mention, I'm already gonna be watching tons of shows this Summer. We'll see.

I wish they'd stop with the CG robots, they just look too out of place with the traditional animation.

Well if the popularity of Pacific Rim and the Michael Bay Transformers movies are any indication. CGI mecha are probably here to stay.

I think the CG in this looks really good actually.

You can't use that in a discussion about CGI usage in anime. The point is that you can make a lot of the objects that 3D CGI is used for in anime using traditional 2d means. More often than not the 3D models just look out of place and ruin the moment.
I'm saying that for general anime, since I'm not a fan of mech series myself xD.

Looks like "XEBEC Presents: VOTOMS". I like it, and it certainly can't be any worse than some of the recent VOTOMS releases.

And why's that? It's true isn't it?
... All right fine, maybe that was a piss-poor example. Perhaps saying that tired and true phrase of "Everyone who wants to use it, uses it" will be better.

Personally, I prefer CGI mecha to mecha that potentially goes off model.
Given that the advance of technology is only going to make CGI easier, faster, and/or less expensive, it isn't likely to lessen, much less go away.
I would go so far as to say it is more likely we'll see more all-CGI series like Arpeggio of Blue Steel: Ars Nova and Knights of Sidonia as the years progress.

Well, I'd say it reminds me more of Full Metal Panic than Votoms so far.

Yeah I can't say I remember VOTOMS doing a sex joke.I believe that comparison was made only because adults(not whiny teenagers)will be piloting mechas.Which is refreshing and rare in anime but it isn't entirely unique to VOTOMS.
That said I love Tatsuo Sato so I am looking forward to this anime.
