I was just talking to some friends about this a few weeks ago. The im@s ps3 DLC catalog finished up a few months ago so it was a given that Namco was going to jump on to the ps4 or make a new game.
Considering the movie is coming out soon a new game to help promote everything is kinda a given. I'm guessing the second game coming out will tie in with the movie and the ps4 game will tie in to maybe another season of the anime. (since the anime was made to help promote the ps3 ver)

Well there is a new Dynasty Warriors Gundam coming out but I hope they're planning to make something else because I can only take so much Dynasty Warriors.
I also want to hope its not another "fee to play" game.
Just.. try to make another Battlefield style game like Mobile Ops/Operation Troy and I will throw my money at it. Too much to ask for?

Wrong company. That's Koei Tecmo. This game is NOT going to be DW.

If love an Im@s game that was less taking pictures of teens and more like an rpg almost where you're the manger and you have to negotiate to get opportunities for events, pick the right type of event for the right girl, deal with rivals, girls trying to sign with someone else, recruitment, time management, inter group/agency drama and all the stuff that happened in the series. Almost like some open world Mass Effect but with online trappings so you're competing with other real managers as well. That's probably asking to much as this will likely be more taking pictures of my waifu than anything else.

The Gundam game will probably be utter crap.
Then they will make the better sequel.

Well, im@s arcade, 1 and 2 are mostly what you described what you want - not as overly complicated, but you do have to manage the girls and make sure they're all happy and win auditions and perform at events. Time management is a big thing because you only have a year to make your idol group top idols.
What you were describing with "taking pictures of my waifu" is the Gravure 4 U "games" that were packaged as part of the special editions of the im@s anime BDs that were sold.

Not to turn this into Idolm@ster fan chat, but yeah, no shock Miki is the best. She's beast mode in front of and behind the camera.
