hey everyone, im new!
ya anyways... I've recently become a fan of anime, i watched a few of the more popular movies out there like spirited away and howls moving castle and im in love with cowboy bebop, its one of my favorite shows period. Onto the actualy topic, a friend let me borrow his uncut version of a movie called "kite" which is about a young girl who is trained and becomes a hitwoman, really really good all in all. One thing about the movie is she i would guess is around 18 and in the uncut version she is in a few sexual sitioutions which are pretty graphic. However one of the scenes snaps back to when she was very young, and i do mean young. It troubled me a little but again was an important part of the story. After reading up on it i found that the scene was much longer in the original cut and was even edited for the US release because of a court case involving characters who are underage, what i read said that if the case in fact went through and there was a law agaisnt animating underage people in sexual sitioutions it would affect a numerous number of films out there. Now my main question is how common is this in anime, im sure there are a bunch of hentai films that show young girls but in "real" anime movies how common is this? When i asked my friend he said he hasn't heard of any others and was really suprised when he saw it for the first time to. thanks for the responses and im lookin forward to being a part o the community |

Welcome to ANN, the best anime news site on the web.
Not common at all in your average anime series, unless it has a high age rating for sextual content  but usally the animated characters aren't that young, around the teen age 15+.

Welcome to the forum from me as well.
This is very uncommon in domestically released anime. Even Kite was originally released in no less than two censored versions before the limited release of the uncut Special Edition. If you go to most stores that sell or rent anime you'll find they either don't carry Kite or they only carry the most edited version available. Even in the world of hentai, most episodes that are anywhere near as graphically loli as Kite is are simply never brought stateside in the first place. This is probably due to a lack of widespread demand and the potential for serious legal troubles. In Japan, however, this sort of thing is still assumed to be legal and is surprisingly common in hentai anime and games. |

I dunno about them not being brought state side...I've seen plenty of hentai depicting minors, downloadable with dual audio...the dub just changes the voices and makes em sound grown up from a couple that I've noticed.

All the disclaimers state that all characters involved in sexual depictions are 19 or older, that may be true with dub but they might make it a fact not to mention peoples ages in the first place.

Examples?
In both the US and in Japan the ages in hentai, when given, are almost never minors. The visuals and circumstances may appear much younger, but when ages are actually given they are generally not below 18. |

Here's how they work it, ALL Japanese high schoolers will be age 18 before they graduate from high school, so if you can get a Japanese high school character in there you just have to say they're 18 and then you don't have anything to worry about because that's the legal age you have to have for a porno/hentai. |

Actually, it was recieved very well. Problem was people were making such ridiculous statements, I almost had to agree with the party I was arguing against. Not to say there weren't good ones on both sides, but there was too much of a flood of stupidity that drowned out any resemblance and/or intelligent argument. So it wasn't a problem of reception, it was a problem of emotion. |

I just saw Kite this weekend--I'd been looking forward to it due to all the "hype". And, I was disappointed. Sure, the violence was top-notch, and I LIKE whatever perversions the Japanese can throw my way, but I didn't see anything particularly disturbing. I was hoping the backstory would be more elaborate and graphically emphasize whatever deviancy and training turned her into a killing machine. I wanted to know how Kite was molded and shaped and see nature vs. nurture in action. This definitely could stand to be a 13-part series.
If I buy the DVD box, it will only because I collect certain anime T-shirts. I guess I'll stick to my hundreds of hentai titles. PS: And welcome to the Church, googledme! You are now one of the blessed Flock. ---------------------------- Partial rant (ignore as necessary): I'm pro-lolicon, FWIW, mainly because I detest censorship, In reality, though, I get hours of laughter from people who actually argue either way since, and this is a leap here, the argument centers around....drawings. Not real. Faux. As a former artist, I could draw whatever I wanted and assign any age to the character, but gosh-darn, they never came to life. Maybe I should have rubbed the drawings on my naked body? Err...I can neither confirm nor deny that said drawing of naked girl was 13. Damn sweat ruined the ink. Governments banning drawings and people accepting their rationale reinforces Einstein's statement regarding human stupidity. |

Hmm, now that would make sense. School girl uniforms are a fetish in Japanese porn, and there colleges where the students (men and women alike) do wear uniforms. |
