Would prefer a second TV series but a movie is fine too.

It is? Didn't Strike Witches get two TV series before the movie? Are Madoka and Tiger & Bunny just like Strike Witches, then?
I was hoping for another TV series, but I'll look forward to both the OVA and movie just as much. Provided they don't give us a recap movie with the TV footage (no, I'm not expecting that), I wonder how much they'll improve the rendering of the tanks for the movie. ^^
C'mon, Anzio!! ;p

Then why post here? Seriously, if a show in question isn't your cup of tea, then please refrain from posting.

This makes me happy, I'd love to see dem tanks with theatrical budgets, but I agree another series with a good budget would have been great too, perhaps preferable.

None of this would have happened if roughly 30,000 units per volume weren't moved. What a great demonstration of the anime market's dynamic ability to produce content when merchandise is sold, GuP was supposed to be a nominal seller going into Fall. That happens to the majority of anime: they run their course, perhaps sell a couple thousand copies, and they're done.

Unlike in SW, it is not fanservice. It is quite decent, don't get me wrong, I love SW too but GuP is way better when it comes to quality and theme.

I guess there are sleeper hits even in anime
Initially the show a lot of people didn't really think about it much but it turns out it was a great success
after all they delayed the last 2 ep in order to change the ending and now with a new ove and movie thrown into the mix its getting a lot of attention
i need to give it a try once i have the time

I don't see the use in a prequel series, the show's underlying theme was regaining trust in friendship and coping with decisions you've made in the past. Working backwards from that doesn't seem to be in GuP's favor, when Miho was just another hardened Nishizumi command drone.

Besides we already have a prequel manga, called "Little Army". It does a lot to shed light on Miho and Maho's relationship and why things between them are the way they are in the show.
Also contains a blatant bit of sequel hookage that most people think is what the movie will end up covering.
