Heh, looks like I accessed the site as soon as this was updated, since it just turned July 3. Anyway, nice to see the column back, and the new section surely did have some ... treats?

Anyway, I'm looking forward to more Shelf Life, and again, I'm glad to see you back.

By the way, congratulations! Cool

Does anyone know the original Japanese title and/or production companies of Duchess of Busty Mounds? Unless there's no alternative, I really don't want to visit every hentai producers I know of just to dig it up.

Hooray! This is my favorite column, and I rejoice in it's return! This is where I would put a dancing banana emoticon, except it's not working for whatever reason!

Forgive me if you made the page in the time since you posted but it's already in the encyclopedia here: anime#6521 however the english title is incorrectly listed as "Dutchess of Busty Mounds".

No, not me. Whenever I add a new title myself (instead of approving submissions) you'll definately see Japanese titles and companies first.

Thanks for the tip. I've transferred all related information.

Glad to see Shelf Life back Anime smile Maybe now people will stop asking about it on the AnswerMan talkback threads. What people? Don't look at me, I didn't do it... Embarassed
Speaking of Kamichu!--
Quote:
Whether it’s answering people’s money questions or helping phallus-shaped Martians go back to their home planets, [Yurie is] the default expert.
Oh, dear God no, I seriously tried to shut off the cynical, corrupt part of my brain before I could make that connection, but I failed Sad But don't let that description deter you from getting the series--we're not talking Ogenki Clinic-style artwork here. It really does live up to the "Spirited Away the TV" reputation, and I consider everyone's blind acceptance of the god thing to be part of that "feeling." If you watch Kamichu! with the same mental settings as you'd use for Spirited Away, there shouldn't be any Rolling Eyes problems. The artbox and extras are quite nice, and can probably be found at a good discount online.
Genshiken...I'm really debating this one. Compared to AnimEigo's Otaku no Video and Rightstuf's Comic Party, which deal with similar subject matter, the Genshiken DVDs don't seem to have any supplemental materials explaining the in-jokes, otaku references, and other Japanese cultural artifacts found in the series. For anime of this nature, I consider those extras important.
So, does Dirrrty Pop replace Perishable Items, or was there just nothing perishable for this column?

In each DVD, (in the single volume releaseses anyway) there is an insert detailing the in-jokes and references in each episode. It's like the Azumanga inserts. The insert was missing in my volume 3, but didn't detract from how immesly enjyable the series is Smile

I´m glad it´s back, but it wasn´t the bang I expected, but it´s not like there are many new releases to talk about just yet.

Not to be a buzz-kill, but weren´t the words used in the column a little adult-ish? I know it´s a hentai title, but those quotes even made me feel dirty.

I remember when ¨WTF¨ and ¨Lynch¨ was removed from a Pokemon article, yet ¨dick¨ and one of my favorite lines ever... “My balls yearn to be on your chin!!” were left in.

I hope this is stirring ANN into a new direction where we don´t have to worry about offending kids with our choice of words.

The review of Duchess of Busty Mounds is now my favorite Shelf Life review ever, just due to how hilarious and comical it is.

Good work. Very Happy

Wow that last review is shocking to say at least, I mean wow her back is going to be so jack up in a couple years. Do people actually like women like that? I can't even believe that, there big and then there is gross. And that is like three steps past gross.

Karas seems to be a promising title it on my netflix and I kinda want to wait for vol 2 (next OVA) before moving it up to the top of my order.
Anywho good to see shelf life is back, still one of my favorite columns.
Till next time,

Delta Kiral

I'm glad that Shelf Life is back, and congratulations Bamboo on earning your degree. Now hopefully SL will follow its biweekly schedule as Zac mentioned in the Hey Answerman forum.

Nice to see Shelf Life is back and congrats on the whole college thing.

I do have a few points about some of the reviews, starting with Karas. It actually does start to make a bit of sense after you've watched it, say ... 3 to 5 times, heh. It took me two viewings to really pick up the bulk of it, and the times I've seen it since I've still managed to pick up one or two subtle things I didn't notice before. There are still obvious elements that are left unexplained or as a mystery, but since it's just half of the whole that is to be expected.

Also, as far as Kamichu! goes (I think I love the letter K today, goes with my username I suppose), anyways, I'm actually pretty good at shutting the cynic in me off so I really enjoyed the series. As I tend to like the innocence and simplicity of shows for younger audiences, even as an adult, it's easy for me to dismiss the adult in me and just enjoy the shows for what they are. I was able to dismiss the acceptance towards her as a god simply because it's not real world, and I'm glad they didn't go that route as watching her get MRI's and go through a tribunal or what not would have been incredibly boring and killed the atmosphere. The animation is top notch for a series and even above a number of movies or OAV's. Sometimes you just need to cast out some realism for the sake of the feel of the show and its story, especially when there's some fantasy involved anyways. In a series where a girl wakes up as a god I have no issues with that.

Well, for the first three episodes, anyway. I liked those, but found the fourth one (with the alien) to be just too utterly preposterous to be enjoyable.

Actually, this may be the last of the hentai reviews. I'm not entirely sure if they have a place on ANN, so I'm still up in the air on it.

The language was a little racy for the hentai review-- that too may change in the future. I kind of just want to see what the response to it will be, and I'll judge things from there.

Dirrrty Pop doesn't replace Perishable Items-- it simply gives a place for titles that don't really fit into the rest of the column, like Vermilion Pleasure Night.

So, can Bamboo or anyone else verify if these inserts are in the boxed set release or not? Because if they are, I might just reconsider my stance on buying the series.
