I've been hearing buzz about this series for a while, but some how managed to never actually see any of it. I wound up impulse buying it last week and have been enjoying it quite a bit.
Is nice to have an action/comedy about grown-ups with grown-up problems. There aren't enough of those right now. I'm also quite happy that it often plays itself straight, as I'd assumed that it was signifigantly more satirical/parody then it actually is. The picture on blu-ray is fantastic too, and I love me some HD animation. |

Nice review. I was hoping to read more about the dub actors, but that is only because I haven't received my copy yet, and I'm really curious about how they did. I guess they got a decent score from you, so I shouldn't worry too much.

The dub is definitely up there. Been watching on Neon Alley and it is a fine dub. Notably the script writing.

I own Kazé's first UK release, which is really nice (We got the Monthly Hero booklets and hero cards as extras!). Only downside is our volume 1 only has 7 episodes, but ours is pretty darn cool looking (seriously, it's pretty cool).
I do really love the English dub - definitely one of the better ones of recent years, with absolutely amazing casting (they really do match the Japanese in a lot of cases - particularly John Eric Bentley's Fire Emblem!). The only downside I've seen is the mispronunciation of Kaede. In one of the earlier episode, her name is pronounced Kai-ay-day, but later on it's the usual Kai-day. Wish they had went back and rerecorded the lines where it was mispronounced :/ Personally, I would have given this dub a solid A or A+; especially when compared to the drivel dubs FUNimation has been shoving out recently. At least the dialogue delivery in T&B feels natural. |

Watched first episode with the dub on VIZ's YouTube channel. I kinda like it. Original Tiger sounds more mature (I just can't call him old) but the one in the dub is also quite good. The one character that sounds perfect is Fire Emblem. Well, I hope the dub will have the same quality all the way until the end. Because the second part of the series is far more dramatic and challenging in the means of dubbing. Emotions and stuff, you know.

Pretty good review. Personally I thought the dub was pretty amazing and I would have given it a higher score since frankly the only real fault I could find with it was that Wally Wingert's Kotetsu didn't sound as deep as Hiroaki Hirata's, though he made the character work regardless. The casting was done well pretty much all across the board which is kind of rare these days.
The dub aside though, the show is definently one of my favorites to come out in the last few years and I'm glad to see it finally get a stateside release. Now hopefully Japan will hurry up and give us a second season. Movies are nice and all, but it's not quite the same. |

I think that would definitely explain why neither of the girl heroes seem older than 16, which was the only thing that personally bothered me a bit (that and Flame Haze's stereotypical portrayal). Nitpicks aside, being from the creators of Karas, I still enjoyed this regardless as the exciting visual comedy/action series it was when it was first streaming. |

My main complaint of the dub is Wally Wingert as Kotetsu. He doesn't "sound" like a widowed father in his 30's who has been unappreciated for sticking with the "old school" morals of super-heroism while having to deal with a Prima Donna for a partner. It obviously could have been worse but, every time he talks, I'm just waiting for him to say, "Tiger Roar, Zabimaru!!"
Patrick as Sky High is great; he has all the ham and cheese of an All-American goody two shoes. Laura as Dragon Kid wasn't too bad although, Laura Bailey in anything makes me instantly like. Steve Blum as Jake and Stephanie as Kriem also had good performances. Sort of disappointing that "Iron Man" himself didn't voice Blue Rose's manager. Overall, a good dub; glad I bought the Blu-Ray instead of DVD.
Which is exactly why there's a massive amount of doujns not just for the main duo but for Sky High and Origami Cyclone (the only bishie in the series). |

Eh I personally thought the voice was fine. It wasn't as deep as Hirata's but he sounded like he was middle aged(and frankly it would be weird if he didn't since Wingert is in his 50's). Not as old as Hirata's voice but he didn't sound offensively young (which I kind of thought he might when I first saw clips of the dub) He was obviously going for a someone what different portrayal of the character since his Kotetsu tends to sound a lot more sarcastic than Hirata's at times, but I think it worked. He certainly sounded like the idealistic butt monkey the character needed to be when he needed to and I think he was a great choice despite my intial skepticism. To each their own I guess though. Kotetsu original voice isn't that deep either. All middle aged don't sound alike.

It would have been nice to have more prominent female superheros also just to show off "hey, we can also create a team of superheros and have a balanced gender ratio too!" |

I have not received my copy of Tiger & Bunny yet but I have to say I was extremely unimpressed in what Viz decided to do for this series. They kept talking it up as such a big thing and yet it seems (besides the dub) they put absolutely no effort in the release. The Kaze UK release is so much nicer it's not even funny.
I am glad to hear it's a good dub and I am looking forward to hearing it but I think is an unfair assessment of Funimation's dubs. Their Steins Gate dub was one of my favorites I heard in awhile but I guess YMMV. |

Fixed that for ya. And yeah, I agree on the dub. Personally, it's the third best dub I've heard in 2012, right behind Hellsing: Ultimate 5-8 and Panty & Stocking. Wally's voice for Kotetsu does admittedly take some getting used to, but he gets MUCH better as the series goes along. As it is now currently, he very well might be my favorite actor in the entire cast. |

Yeah, I will say that the T&B dub was pretty good although Wally Wingert's voice does seem a bit too young for Tiger, as him in the show is described as a old man but hey, his voice does work there. And although FUNimation's dubs are mostly nothing outstanding and dull at some times, there's consistently good....not as interesting as Bang Zoom's but still good. |
