Well, story all writing be damned, we've got elves incoming. I don't even care what kind of convolutions and stupid circumstances force everyone back into another limited release virtual reality MMORPG that was just as implausible as the previous game, as long as there's pointy ears. All's forgiven.

So pointy ears are what floats your boat, huh? Personally I like an interesting story, great writing and three-dimensional characters, but each to their own.

Hey good call on realizing that walw-etc,etc was being deadly serious and not light-heartedly exaggerating for comedic effect. Never one to lose an opportunity to come across as totally humourless and self-important, eh? Rolling Eyes

Am I finding the show to be watchable? Yes. I'm a sucker for fight scenes and male wish-fulfilment. But I can't remember the last time I thought it was actually good. Maybe around episodes five and six? That arc was kind of interesting despite the rushed conclusion. From Lizbeth onwards, everything - bar The Gleam Eyes fight, the fishing expedition and a couple of tender scenes between Kirito and Asuna - has been mediocre or worse.

By the way, speaking of The Gleam Eyes fight, I just re-watched it again and realised that the boss' health was actually shown for a brief moment. Seems like the Army dudes had managed to take exactly one bar of health off the beast, which means Kirito (with help from Asuna; poor Klein never landed a blow) took off the other three. I don't recall anyone ever picking up on this detail before (I might have missed something though), so I thought I'd mention it.

Hell's bells, it's like the Anime staff want to ruin the story. Not that it was all that strong in the first place mind you, but details like this are important.

Not as important as you seem to think. The only purpose the mention of government dealings serves right now, is to explain how Kirito found the still imprisoned Asuna so quickly, and why her father is so accepting that a random kid that turned up is a close friend of hers from inside the game they were trapped in.

Additional details aren't required for that. Even without the details in the novel, obviously the government is going to be interviewing SAO survivors to learn what exactly happened inside the game. When they learn that the game ended at floor 75 out of 100, they'll be looking to the clearing group for answers, who will direct them to the final raid group, who will direct them to Kirito. Kirito for his part, is the last person to speak with Kayaba, who they're apparently still trying to track down. Between him having guessed at Kayaba's disguise, defeated Kayaba, and him knowing what Kayaba said after being defeated, they wouldn't think twice about giving him a hand tracking down his friends.

Either way you'd get the same outcome, Kirito tracks down Asuna in short order, and gets introduced to her parents in a manner that would not have them thinking "stalker". So the extra detail is extraneous for the desired purpose, and would likely require them casting another voice actor or two to properly include. Understandable that they'd cut it. Not ideal, but they are on a budget here.

As ridiculousness as all of this is, I've gotten attached to these characters. The writing for the characters for the most part in this series is amazing and some of the best I've seen in ages in anime. Yea the story is not the best and a bit silly and stupid, but my god the character development is top notch.

I have a question will the anime will they continue this anime following the light novels? I really like this anime and I will hope this anime will have a lot of seasons.
Because when it comes to anime following the light novel they always end it quick or give a bad ending.

@Ilovemanga1 - I think the encylopedia already lists Sword Art Online as only having 24-26 episodes, so I think it's going to be finished there. Keep in mind it's pretty expensive to make an anime so to keep a good quality they generally cannot be very long running.

It is however possible for them to create additional seasons.

Depends on how much source material there is. This elf arc will probably use up the rest of the season, but the Light Novels are far enough ahead at the moment for at least another two-cour season.

I really like Bakuman's release schedule for the Anime. It is now into its third two-cour season, with an approx six month gap between each one. It allows the show to have a consistent run without ever getting ahead of the Manga (which is now finished), it gives the staff some off-time to rest and plan the next season, it keeps interest in the franchise high for much longer than a single six-cour run would have done, and it means there is less danger of the budget running out.

Anyway, given how popular the Sword Art Online franchise currently is I would not be surprised if another season was greenlit for a late 2013 or early 2014 broadcast.

Is love/sex between half brother-sister in Japan not considered to be incest?

They might have as much as 12,5-50% probability to share genes and such relationships considered to be incest in the most of countries, but not in Japan, right?

Episode 16

Okay, so we spoiler[are in Elfland. And there's some chick that kinda looks like, and reminds me of, Asuna, but isn't. Too lazy to go back and check what her character name is, but she was the one menaced by the flying dudes.]

I'm glad there is a decent rationale for both Kirito and Asuna to be in this new game; I was wondering how that was going to be justified.

However, without the spoiler[threat of "you die in the game, you die for realz" the stakes seem pretty low right now.] I assume that will be addressed in future episodes.

Still a fun title for me.
