That sucks. I really liked the idea of a seeing the black absurdity and over-the-top morbid grotesquerie of Lychee Light Club animated. That could have been really cool and help make what already seems a pretty promising fall season uncommonly memorable. It was good as manga, but sound, especially a sufficiently over-the-top cast and exaggeratedly theatrical soundtrack, could have added nicely to it.

I can't discount the possibility that these shorts will be entertaining, but they're a let-down from what I had let myself think it would be.

Don't terribly care about the property myself, really didn't find the manga that interesting or engaging, (odd because I'm actually a huge fan of dark comedy). But I'm happy for Vertical which will hopefully see a decent sales boost from this being made.

I pretty much expected it, since anytime an anime is announced this close to a season it isn't a large production.

Really? The Flowers of Evil and one other anime was announced the same day, while that Shaft was also announced recently.Does anyone know any announcement that happened two months before its premiere?Or could it be that they will premier in Winter?

Ah, well, that's a disappointment. Hopefully the shorts are at least entertaining, I guess.

As long as they keep the gore, and kidnappings, and random intestines, and waltzing, and the toilets...

It should be fine.

Oh, and the KA-PUTZ-ing. Don't want that to be gone, now do we.

On a similar note I kind of expected something like that too, since the original material would be a bit difficult make a decent-length anime series out of. Plus the content would be more fitting for an OVA.
