I know nothing at all about this show but the picture makes it look like a Saturday morning cartoon like Jackie Chan Adventures or something.

Well I watched the first episode and it is great if you are under the influence of alcohol.

they really scraped bottom of the barrel with this one. i can only imagine other companies *coughsentai/aniplexcough* picked up the more popular stuff like SAO.

Well this is certainly surprising. Watched the first episode and thought it was fairly interesting. CG's a problem though...not sure if I'll see more.

And what exactly makes Sword Art Online more popular?

I'm not sold on the 3D CG they're using for Kingdom, but it's worth a shot. It's certainly not deserving of kneejerk hate right now. The starting premise is certainly more interesting to me than SAO's standard MMORPG setting. That concept hasn't improved creatively since .hack//sign came along in 2002.

That it's already known and has a base of fan support? Same thing with the upcoming MuvLuv anime.

I asked how it is known that the Sword Art Online is more popular and better known in Japan than the Kingdom manga, and your response is to simply reassert that it is. Not exactly persuasive!

Though, to a point that matter is also just irrelevant - it isn't as though tastes over there are synonymous with those of English-speaking fans here.

i was talking about in america where SAO is frequently mentioned on peoples watch list on various forums much more so then kingdom. as for japan the SAO light novel series sells better then the kingdom manga.

Historical titles tend to not fly very well outside of Japan. Even within Japan, such titles have limited impact. They should have picked up Souten Kouro a few years ago if they really wanted a Chinese history anime.

That said, I'm not going to judge the series quite yet as it does have 38 episodes. However, if it does become the snooze fest that Hyouge Mono was, then yes it will be a waste of time. Perhaps Funimation is trying to broaden their audience demographics though.

Doesn't seem like a "must watch" for me but I might watch it someday if the streams do well enough to get a home video release with a dub in the future.

The summer season looks really weak IMO (you know it's bad when there isn't even a "big boob show" for ecchi fans).

I'm aware of dakara boku wa h ga dekinai but that seems like a lame rip-off of High School DxD (which was great), Campione is a maybe and Binbougami ga could either be a lot of fun or very stupid (haven't read the manga so I don't know what to expect).

I consider myself a casual anime fan so some of you are probably looking forward to some other stuff I could care less about but from my point of view Kingdom is definitely not the "bottom of the barrel".

Unless there's some last minute anime added for this season that might interest me, I guess the only anime I can look forward to this summer are:

*ongoing Hunter x Hunter
*Kenichi OVA episode 2
*Code Geass Gaiden: Boukoku no Akito

Funimation may be thinking about putting it on the TV for the kids. It may be a way to get more people into anime. I see them thinking something like "Hey, the Last Air Bender, it's popular, maybe we can draw more kids in with this."

Please, this show should wish to be like Jackie Chan Adventures. JCA was awesome.

This looks fairly shit. The CG is simply atrocious. It looks so bad that it makes this unwatchable.
