God dammit Japan.
How misogynistic, sexist, and just plain offensive to women can you get?
Someone on this forum said that LN's are often times worse than fan-fic with their cliches, bad writing, and self-insert mary sues. This just proves that right.

I once saw a Japanese documentary or read an article? I'm not sure.
However one of the (male) creators said "I really dislike the trend of Moe, not because of the style but because of the plots. Guys want girls to be pets real PETS, and that is terrible"
Wellp now it's literal. They want pet girls.
Then again I could argue that shoujo did it too with Kimi wa Petto... so well I guess they are even now? though I have a feeling this will be much worst...

I mean...the fact that this was professionally published offends me. I'm a man and it offends me still. Someone thought this was a good idea. Someone actually spent precious time projecting his misogynistic fantasies onto paper. He actually got this shit PUBLISHED. And it's popular enough to get an anime.
I've officially lost all faith in humanity.

It sounds intriguing, but also super-ripe for misogyny. I could see it work as a really-wrong comedy or something that appears comedic on the surface, but has a serious undertone to the whole premise. Since I serious doubt the latter, I'm at least hoping it'll try to be funny for all the right reasons and not the wrong ones.

There's no way but down for this show. There's no way to play off a premise like this as funny.

Now this is the kind of anime I can get into.

This is just awful. I can't believe someone thought this was good enough to publish, let alone popular enough to animate. Having said that, there are plenty of yaoi manga with similar plots...

Yeah, I don't get the sexism complaints with all the BL stuff out there. It goes both ways.
I also have a tough time really feeling sorry for sexism happening towards fake characters. Its like how people try to compare loli hentai to real child porn even though only one is hurting a real person.

It's not the sexism against the characters that I'm pissed about.
It's the sexism of the author. It's how the publisher didn't go "We're not publishing this misogynistic trash" and actually did publish it. it's about how this book got popular enough to get an anime. There's a massive current of misogyny running through Otaku culture right now, and the fact that this was created proves it.

I can totally see the girl in this becoming one of the more popular waifus of the year. She's even voiced by Ai Kayano, who is quite possibly the most popular new up and comer seiyuu.

This reminds me of Inu x Boku SS for some reason...

Hahahah, wow, ew! I'm trying to imagine walking into the bookstore and buying this with a straight face. This has to be one of those "stare awkwardly at your feet at the checkout, then do a slick ollie out of the store and backflip into the sunset while shouting YOU CAN'T JUDGE ME WHILE I'VE GOT MOVES THIS TIGHT" things.

Works for me. As long as it's funny, cute and maybe a little sexy, I'll watch anything, regardless of premise.

Well, it's hard to say how good or bad this will be without seeing it, and having an eccentric girl like that in the show could certainly be interesting (eccentric characters are often a lot of fun), but the "pet" angle definitely sounds disturbing.
