Hmm interesting. The anime is nearly finished airing and the manga is epic.
I'm wondering how this live-action will turn out to be especially the actress who will be playing Yuno. |

As usual I am being discriminated against; the video is unavailable in my country...

I've got a question. Does the world really need a live-action version of "Future Diary?" Good grief. There's already an anime version of this, why the live-action version? To me,that seems a little unnecessary.

Meh.
Really the teaser is nothing special. In fact, it makes it look like some generic coming-of-age /romance story. |

The premise is really good, so it'd be a good chance to fix some of the major problems with the original. I wouldn't expect much, though. In fact, the trailer does give rather the impression that they'll take it further from the original than even I'd like... unless it's a ruse to more thoroughly shock unsuspecting viewers. |

Some fans don't like adaptation with changes though. They want to see the original, warts and all. |

Yeah. If I didn't read what the trailer was for it looked like some chump-change drama that I couldn't give 2 shits about. |

This live-action does have the "Another World" subtitle. I'd say it's a safe bet that it'll be an alternate reality or a retelling with the focus on something else (and judging by the trailer, yep, looks like it will be more romance/coming-of-age focused...) Hey, they aren't deceiving anyone : they're clearly stating they're aiming for something different. Hence why they don't mind there's already an anime fresh in everyone's minds. Then again, we've had live-action versions of GTO, Nodame Cantabile, Cutey Honey, Detective Conan, Ranma 1/2, MPD Psycho, 20th Century Boys, Gantz and, recently, Rurouni Kenshin... So that question, "Does the world needs a live-action version of XXXXX if there's an anime version already?", sounds like a moot point, all things considered. |

They already have different names, so this could go anywhere.
They also look like college students, so there goes my delicious middle schooler sex. |

I agree in the usual "A timeless classic, now re-imagined by some hack because we know better" sort of situation, but I'm all for clear improvements to obvious failings. Future Diary is basically a gold mine for something like that, imho, but I'm still not feeling optimistic. |

To be honest, Mirai Nikki is the kind of story that can transistion pretty well to live-action. It's not like vast majority of it is set in some fantasy world, most of it is revolves around real world scenarios (bombastic and outlandish, yes, but nothing that can't be scaled down and grounded). I even think the story is universal-enough at its core to make for a good Americanized version.
