I guess it's about time I rewatch my DVDs, then. Gotta get the inspiration juices flowing.

I can really get behind a haiku contest. Much preferred to a drawing one since not everyone has a tablet or a scanner.

I haven't seen the show yet. Is "Sanosuke" really only three syllables?

Oh, and Sanosuke is pronounced san-o-skay I think so yes

If you are going
To write this type of poem
Check the syllables

...and don't mix in Japanese if you can't count moras.

In typical slurred pronunciation Sanosuke is three 'syllables', but it is four moras (Sa-no-su-ke). And since the last line is in Japanese, with the proper number of moras, it makes it particularly glaring.

I would like to win this, but I stink at haiku. Well, good luck for those who are entering.

My fiance's fa v
I suppose it would be best
If I at least tried.

This is kinda fun...

edit: In case anyone is wondering, that space is intentional, since for some reason posting without it makes the the rest of the word 'favorite' auto-fill in. When I try to edit, it goes away. Weirdest. Glitch. Ever. (Unless I'm inadvertently writing something naughty...)

If we're allowed to enter as many times as we want, why do I get this message

Sorry, but you have already entered that contest

when trying to enter my second one?

Heh, I just came on to say that I couldn't post a second one, either. Hope they fix that quickly. My creative juices are feeling strong today.

Spoken aloud it works, you pedant. I counted the moras, made more sense as three syllables. It isn't pronounced "sa-no-su-ke". Saying it that way would be incorrect.

Nerds.

Does anyone know if they fixed the entry limit yet? I would hate to submit a haiku and find I can't enter again like the rules say. Sad

i think it's Sa-no-su-ke. さのすけ. that's 4 characters, 4 different sounds.

Maybe English speaking countries like to count すけ as one syllable. it doesn't matter, whatever works for ANN because they make the rule.
