A twenty million lead? That can't be right.

Interesting prices, by the way.

So apparently, OP outsold the other nine series combined.

Huh.

This isn't surprising, really. One Piece's popularity really has no challengers over here.

Looks like One Piece's higher sales figures comes about half from "higher initial sales per volume" and about half from "keeps selling at that rate for longer"... which is interesting, suggests that there's a broader appeal.

[but three million sales a volume is better than one set of One Piece for every fifty people. Even with some of the sets going to libraries and some of them going to groups of people where everyone owns their own set, that's a lot of copies.]

that's not a misprint. alot of new fans are buying 1-60. So Eiichiro Oda
is on pace to earn 100m+ USD this year?(manga +anime + toy + other)

look at this one and you do the math yourself

Shocked Holy sh.... ow of emotion.

Also, it's a little sad there's only one shoujo manga on the list, but I'm happy it's Kimi ni Todoke.

So its official the new Japanese big three is One Piece, Naruto, and Gantz. Stop referring to bleach as part of the Big Three, although you may include it as part of the Big 9.

Gantz is teh big top 3. I remember there was some sale going on early this year. that's why the total is high, but none of the Gantz book is in top 50. You will see why at the end of 2011. I think the big 3 are One Piece, Naruto and Kimi ni Todoke?

Bleach wasn't in top 3 for a long time.

Um, wow, 23 Million for One Piece, that's already more than half of last years' 32 Million. I'm looking forward to seeing how much One Piece sells this year! =]

bleach's place seem to be fair, since beyond super sharp and elegant graphic art, the concept is cliché and derivative, and the plot is blatantly weak... and the protagonist is probably the least interesting character that could have been only created... (even naruto, but not really interesting main character, seem to be better in this part...)

once piece is probably the best example of nearly pure entertainment and it's popularity is fair... since naruto is too dark and complex to be liked as universally as one piece... spoiler[even though Luffy's named brother was killed, he was not part of core cast of characters, did not participate in any of manga's events except for only these which lead to him be killed, what was the whole purpose of this personage... so once piece does not go that dark as naruto and this allows the project to be liked versatilely...]

this is retarded! naruto too dark? lol
death of a main cast is not equal to dark theme or plot..
