America sure likes their trashy manga. Yes, I'm looking at you Ai Ore! I regretted my purchase as soon as I saw that attempted rape scene. I like how it's oversized though.
In any case, this was a boring week. Hardly anything shifted.

Fujoshi showing their buying power once more.
After all this dominance by female buyers, I have to question just how in the world did Big Windup/Oofuri not sell at least adequately. That's like, a mega-fujoshi series. Is it cause they don't have androgynous character design?

They probably never knew it was (It never seemed to be advertised for girls).
I doubt most girls (myself included) expect to find blushing highschool boys in a manga about baseball.

I miss the seeing the GOOD manga on the list, instead of things that are fujoshi bait

if you don't buy your so call good manga. then they will continue to bring those trashy manga to US because they sell. there is no good or bad manga for those companies, it's either will people buy or not buy.

N. American manga market is basically just a two-horse race.

Happy to see Pandora Hearts on there but as much as I love Lee's artwork I would MaxRide would end or just die already. It's novels have completely lost all appeal to me.
As for the abusive-boyfriend trend that started with Twitards and now extends to Black Bird, this seriously needs to stop. Series like We Were There, Kimi ni Todoke, and High School Debut portray healthier, even uplifting relationships as opposed to that tripe. I dearly want to see more like the latter and less like the former.
It's nice that HOTD is doing so well, but I can say that only because it means more opportunities for Yen as a whole. It's trashy, T & A, gorefest fun, and that's the best compliment I can ever give it.
I'm still on the fence about Bakuman even after 4 volumes. Parts of it are truly a joy to read and even learn from, but the one-dimensional female characters and unbearably stupid "relationships" therein are what drive me up a wall. The others on this list don't do anything for me so I'll leave it at that.
Gotta love Borders's 50% coupon recently. Thanks to a friend's membership I was able to get 3 paperbacks for the price of one hardcover.

Well that is just stating the obvious because that is what HOTD was made to be.
