Santa Monica, CA (October 6, 2010) -- Anime News Network and Aniplex of America jointly announced today that AnimeNewsNetwork.com will be the exclusive online North American simulcast partner for Aniplex Inc's new fall television series, togainu no chi -Bloody Curs-. The show is set to premiere on MBS on October 7th.
“Anime News Network is extremely excited to announce Togainu as our second simulcast,” says ANN CEO Christopher Macdonald, “I can't think of a better way to launch the next stage of Anime News Network than with two great, yet very different simulcasts from Aniplex.”

togainu no chi -Bloody Curs- is an adaptation of the hit bishonen video game from multimedia studio Nitro+CHiRAL (sweet pool, Lamento –BEYOND THE VOID-). A manga adaptation, which is available in English, is currently serialized in the Japanese manga anthology comic B's LOG.
The story follows Akira, a post-apocalyptic street fighter who must win the bloody Igura tournament to win his freedom after he is falsely accused of a crime he did not commit.
togainu no chi -Bloody Curs- is produced at A-1 Pictures (Welcome to THE SPACE SHOW, Kannagi, Black Butler), directed by Naoyuki KONNO (Dance in the Vampire Bund, 009-1) with a screenplay written by Natsuko TAKAHASHI (Antique Bakery, Hell Girl, Romeo X Juliet). The series also features an all star cast with the voices of Kousuke TORIUMI (Ai no Kusabi, Black Blood Brothers, Naruto) as Akira and Tomokazu SUGITA (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Gintama, X) as Keisuke, as well as Hikaru MIDORIKAWA (Sailor Moon R, Slayers, Fushigi Yugi), Jun FUKUYAMA (Durarara!!, Code Geass, Gankutsuou: The Count of Monte Cristo), and Kishô TANIYAMA (Highschool of the Dead, Hetalia, Gurren Lagann).
