Kikaider Reboot Film's Full Trailer Debuts

The official website for the Kikaider Reboot film began streaming the full trailer on Tuesday.
The film's story will take place in a future when the "Ark Project" uses robots to solve problems that the Japanese government cannot solve with human power alone. When robot engineering expert Nobuhiko Kōmyōji dies, his rivals steal his plans and start causing chaos until a conscious robot Jiro (Kikaider), created by Kōmyōji, appears as the hero.
Jingi Irie (Risō no Musuko, Take Five) will star a Jiro/Kikaider, Ryūji Harada will play Dr. Komyoji, Aimi Satsukawa (Nezumi, Edo wo Hashiru; True Love) will play Dr. Komyoji's daughter Mitsuko, and Maryjun Takahashi (Rurouni Kenshin films, Ushijima the Loan Shark 2) will play Android Mari. The film will also star Kazushige Nagashima, Hirotarō Honda, and Daisuke Ban, who starred as the protagonist Jiro, as psychologist Kyujiro Maeno.
Ten Shimoyama (SHINOBI - Heart Under Blade, Blood) is directing the film. The script was developed over a period of two years.
The film, which is a remake of the 1970s Jinzou Ningen Kikaider television series, will open in Japan on May 24.
