posted on by Egan Loo
Game maker Bushiroad began streaming a promotional video for its revived Neppu Kairiku Bushi Road anime on Saturday. The promotional video lists the staff and characters for the upcoming "science-fiction epic anime." Bushiroad President Takaaki Kidani is credited as the original concept creator and executive producer, while the late novelist Sunao Yoshida (Trinity Blood) is credited as the original story creator alongside Nitroplus and Bushiroad itself.
The official website also updated on Sunday, and confirmed the cast members that were revealed at the Tokyo Game Show 2013 event:
The story takes place in a time when the world is in the pits of despair after being ravaged by a poison called "shinobi" that came to earth via an asteroid. The people run away to the place called "Kairiku," a place that used to be the bottom of the ocean. Here, the people try and protect themselves against the effects of the poison. In such a world, there was a single light of hope. The "Holy Weapon Giga Road" and the legendary warrior "Yagyū" are needed in order to counter the effects of the poison. In order to save the world, Ame, a princess of a fallen nation, stands up in order to save the world.
Masayuki Sakoi (Princess Resurrection, Needless) is helming the project with assistant director and special skills director Satoshi Mori (Mobile Suit Gundam UC, Eureka Seven - good night, sleep tight, young lovers). Nitroplus writers Norimitsu Kaihō (Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet episodes, Guilty Gear games) and Ukyō Kodachi (Macross Frontier novels, Mobile Suit Gundam Age novels) are scripting the project in collaboration with Sayaka Harada (Library War, Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan). Mai Toda (Holy Knight) is designing the characters based on the original art of Shinov Mimori of Nitroplus. Niθ (Nitroplus), Makoto Ishiwata (Nitroplus), and Takeshi Takakura are designing the mecha. Chuuouhigashiguchi (Nitroplus) and Takeshi Takakura are designing the creatures. Masatoshi Ono (Hunter × Hunter, Mama wa Poyopoyo-Saurus ga Osuki) is contributing the titular ending theme song.
The anime will air this winter as a collaboration between Bushiroad, video distributor Bandai Visual, software company Nitroplus, and anime studio Kinema Citrus. The mecha mixed-media project was originally announced in 2003 as a collaboration between Gainax, Takara, and Broccoli, and its television anime movie would have aired in 2005.
Update: Anime's new Winter release date updated and image error fixed. Thanks, Ashen Phoenix.
