Non Non Biyori Anime Staff Listed

posted on by Rae First

The September issue of Media Factory's Comic Alive magazine is announcing on Saturday the main staff for the anime adaptation of Atto's schoolgirl manga Non Non Biyori. Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Girls und Panzer) is overseeing the series scripts, and Mai Otsuka (Oreshura, Shakugan no Shana III (Final), Astarotte no Omocha!) is the character designer and chief animation director.

The scripts are being written by Yoshida, Fumihiko Shimo (The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Infinite Stratos, Fate/stay night), and Yuka Yamada (Bungaku Shōjo, Tamayura - More Aggressive, Mushi-Shi). KUSANAGI (Waiting in the Summer, Magi) is handling the background art, and SILVER LINK (WATAMOTE, Baka and Test - Summon the Beasts) is overseeing the production.

The slice-of-life comedy is set in a countryside school with only five students total. The nearest bookstore is 20 minutes away by bicycle, a certain "Ju_p" magazine comes out on Wednesdays instead of Mondays, and the video rental store is 10 stations away.

Fifth-grade schoolgirl Hotaru Ichijō transfers from Tokyo to this school and readjusts to the slow life in the country. Her fellow schoolmates are first-year middle schoolgirl Natsumi, second-year middle schoolgirl Komari, first-grade schoolgirl Renge, and Komari's big brother Suguru in the third year of middle school.

The anime was announced in February on the wraparound jacket band on the fifth volume of the manga. Atto launched the manga in Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine in 2009.
