Viz's Shonen Jump Alpha Adds One-Punch Man Manga
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
North American publisher Viz Media announced in its January 14 issue of the Shonen Jump Alpha digital anthology that it will add Yūsuke Murata (Eyeshield 21) and ONE's One-Punch Man manga.
The series revolves around the titular super hero who has trained so hard that his hair has fallen out, and who can overcome any enemy with one punch. However, because he is so strong, he has become bored and frustrated with winning all his battles so easily. The series adapts ONE's original web manga of the same name, which had received more than 7.9 million hits online as of June 2012. The manga is currently running on Shueisha's free Tonari no Young Jump spinoff website. Shueisha released the first two compiled book volumes of the series last month.
Viz Media recently announced that its issues of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha are now download to own and will not expire.
Shonen Jump Alpha will move to a simultaneous model with Japan on January 21. Monday's issue also revealed that the magazine will have a new name and a new look starting with next week's issue. Viz Media also noted that it will add more new series to the lineup.
Update: The January 14 issue of Weekly Shonen Jump Alpha also published the final all-color chapter of Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan.
