posted on by Egan Loo
North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced on Monday that it acquired Kyoto Animation's Tamako Market television anime series. The 12-episode series will be "available soon through select digital outlets with a home video release later this year."
Aya Suzaki (Bakuman., Manyū Hiken-chō, To Love-Ru -Trouble- Darkness) plays the title heroine Tamako Kitashirakawa, a high-school freshman who is cheerful, spirited, and kind to others. She is the mochi-loving daughter of a mochi (rice cake) shopkeeper in a shopping district and a baton club member.
Naoko Yamada (K-ON!) is directing, and Reiko Yoshida (K-ON!, Bakuman.) is in charge of the series scripts. Another K-ON! veteran, Yukiko Horiguchi (Lucky Star), is designing the characters.
