The Tokumei Kakarichō Tadano Hitoshi Final live-action television special based on Kimio Yanagisawa's salaryman action manga will air in Japan on January 6 and 7.
Veteran actor Katsunori Takahashi, star of the Tokumei Kakarichō Tadano Hitoshi television series and film, will reprise his role as the title salaryman and secret corporate agent. Takahashi said that this two-part finale marks the end of the live-action adaptation and will be the last time he portrays Tadano.
Yanagisawa's original Tokumei Kakarichō Tadano Hitoshi manga serialized in Kodansha's Weekly Gendai magazine from 1998 to 2007, and he has published several sequel manga. The four live-action television series adaptations aired in Japan from 2003 to 2009 with the Tokumei Kakarichō Tadano Hitoshi: Saigo no Gekijō-ban (Special Mission Section Chief Hitoshi Tadano: The Final Film) theatrical film in 2008.
Tokumei Joshi Ana Namino Yōko (Special Mission Female Announcer Yōko Namino), Yanagisawa's 2007-2008 spinoff manga, inspired a second live-action film last year. The story revolves around a young female television announcer who doubles as a secret corporate agent.
