Tokumei Joshi Ana Namino Yōko Manga Spawns 2nd Film
posted on by Gia Manry
Tokumei Joshi Ana Namino Yōko (Special Mission Female Announcer Yōko Namino), Kimio Yanagisawa's 2007-2008 manga spinoff of his popular Tokumei Kakarichō Tadano Hitoshi (Special Mission Section Chief Hitoshi Tadano) salaryman action manga, has spawned a second live-action film due out on August 7. The story revolves around a young female television announcer who doubles as a secret corporate agent. With the new movie, titled Tokumei Joshi Ana Namino Yōko: LOVE IS OVER, the producers hope to turn the franchise into a film series. An official website has been launched for the project with a two-minute trailer.
Model-turned-actress Maki Tamaru plays the film's title character, Yōko Namino. Tamaru played a role in the live-action drama adaptation of Mitsuru Adachi's baseball manga H2, and more recently performed in a live-action drama adaptation of Takashi Tajima's Tokujo Kabachi!! Kabachitare! 2.
A previous attempt at a Tokumei Joshi Ana Namino Yōko movie was made in 2009 starring Nori Horikoshi. The original Tokumei Kakarichou Tadano Hitoshi manga featured a salaryman who was also a secret corporate agent. That first manga series inspired four live-action television series and a film of its own.
