posted on by Egan Loo
The Cinema Today website began streaming a 51-second crying scene from the live-action Usagi Drop (Bunny Drop) film on its YouTube channel on Wednesday. The scene features lead actress Mana Ashida (Magic Tree House) as the six-year-old girl Rin. Sabu directed Ken'ichi Matsuyama (Death Note, Detroit Metal City, Gantz) and Ashida in this film which opened in Japan on August 20.
In Yumi Unita's original "human drama" manga, 30-year-old bachelor Daikichi (Matsuyama) discovers a girl named Rin (Ashida) in his grandfather's garden while at his grandfather's funeral. Rin is the unwanted child of Daikichi's grandfather, and Daikichi decides to take her in when no one in the family accepts the responsibility.
Yen Press is publishing the original manga in North America. A separate television anime adaptation had premiered in Japan last month, and Crunchyroll is streaming it outside Japan as it airs.
Update: Spoiler (highlight the following white text to read) [The scene follows Rin and her friend Kōki (Ruiki Satō) as they visit the grave of Kōki's father.] Source: Cinema Today
