Warner Entertainment Japan Makes Foray Into TV Anime
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Warner Entertainment Japan, the distribution company for Warner Brothers Japan, will be directly involved in two television anime projects this summer. It is part of the production and planning for Ro-Kyu-Bu! and Kami-sama no Memo-chō, which are both premiering this July. Warner Brothers Japan previously participated in production and distribution for several anime films and original video anime projects such as Sky Crawlers and Summer Wars, while the English-language side of the company has licensed and distributed many anime movies, including several Pokémon movies, as well as a few television series.
Sagu Aoyama's original light novel series inspired the upcoming anime Ro-Kyu-Bu!, and Tinkle created the concept art. The story surrounds a teenaged boy's deepening bonds with the young team he mentors. After basketball team activities are suspended at his own high school, Subaru Hasegawa becomes the coach of an elementary school girls' basketball team.
Mel Kishida drew the illustrations for Hikaru Sugii's Kami-sama no Memo-chō mystery light novel series, the basis for the anime of the same name. In this story, "NEET Detective" Alice and high school boy Narumi Fujishima work to resolve problems and mysteries surrounding the lives of NEETs (people not in education, employment, or training).
On June 6, promotional videos for both Ro-Kyu-Bu! and Kami-sama no Memo-chō debuted.
