Anime At Brighton In June

The Brighton Japan Festival website now has details of the events between Friday June 17 and Sunday June 26. They include two anime film screenings: Akira on Friday June 24 at the Duke of York's Picturehouse cinema (map), and Redline at the same venue the following day. The cinema will also be showing the original 1954 live-action film Godzilla on Sunday June 26.
Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 are the days of the Asahi Anime Festival. The events are detailed here; they include:
Saturday 25th June events, 11am to 6pm.Quick Draw Manga Battle, 1:30pm Watch budding manga artists battle it out on stage to see who can draw the best pictures in the shortest time!
Cosplay Contest, 3pm Bartholemew Square is set to be transformed as colourful characters take over the stage!
Giant Karaoke, 4:30pm Don't be shy, join us for our giant, on-stage, open air karaoke session!
Sunday 26th June events, 11am to 6pm.
Japanese Game Show, 2:30pm A fast-paced Japanese-style game show where contestants try out different activities and compete to win prizes!
Gothic Lolita Fashion Show. Join us at 2pm, to see a selection of the prettiest styles to come out of Japan!
Anime Hair and Make-up Lesson. Ever wanted to know how to get those crazy hairstyles and that “big eyes” look for yourself? We'll be showing both boys and girls how to achieve the effect and look just like your favourite characters!
Community Area (both days).
Join us in the community area for two days of family-friendly workshops and hands-on activities! Please note, there will be a small charge for some of the activities, with a portion of the profits going to the Tohoku Earthquake Relief Fund.
Artist's Alley. The artists' alley is a place for budding manga artists of all ages to get together, draw and socialise.
Giant Manga Chalk Art. Join in and help us create a huge piece of manga art. Bring your own chalks or use those provided.
